  • Shocks at Texas Tech

    Bueller? Bueller?

Shocks are in Lubbock to take on the 14th ranked Red Raiders of Texas Tech. It's the bottom of the fifth, so I guess it's time to make a thread. Game tied at 1.

With two outs in the bottom of the 5th a single, walk and double scores 2 for Tech as they lead 3-1 after 5.

2 out double puts TTU up 3-1 after 5.

Gibson with the lead off triple in the 6th. Stranded on third as next three hitters fail to get the run in.

Home run in bottom of the sixth makes it 4-1.

TT 5th was a fly out, single then Cadena threw out their best baserunner. 2 out nobody on. 1-2 and Snavely freezes him, strike 3 inning over only ump kicked it. No idea what he was looking at.

Snavely ends up losing him, next guy cues one off the end of the bat that bounces funny and Snavely can't get it, then the double scores 2.

Leaving the leadoff runner on 3rd with no out is inexcusable.

Wheels officially off after 18 walks in the 7th SMH.

Pitching has struck out 11 but walked 8. Hitting 0 walks 7 strikeouts. Throw strikes please. It matters.

I guess that's a pretty good example of throwing gasoline on a fire.

                So how'd it end up?

                ... No really, deuces.

Snavely wasn't terrible but the bullpen has for the most part been a problem.

Despite the 12-2 final score the Shocks were only out hit 13-10. Both pithing staffs had 12 strikeouts. But Shocker pitchers walked 10 while TTU pitchers only walked 1.

As WuDrWu advised -- throw strikes, it mattters.

Well that's putting it mildly. According to the box score, those three hitters all struck out.

In Game 2 Shocks got off to a good start when David VanVooren led off the game with a solo home run down the left field line.

Unfortunately that didn't last long. Tommy Barnhouse gave up 5 earned runs on 6 hits and 2 walks in the bottom of the 1st and the Shocks are quickly in a hole trailing by 4 after 1 inning.

Shocks get back in the game with 3 runs in the top of the 2nd. On a single, wild pitch, hit by pitch, wild pitch, fielder's choice to score a run, infield hit to the catcher to score a 2nd run. After out #2 made, another wild pitch and then a walk put Shockers on 1st and 2nd. Luke Ritter then doubled down the left field line to plate a 3rd run and put runners at 2nd and 3rd. Paxton Wallce fouled out to 3rd to end the inning but Shocks are right back in it at 5-4.

I hate the announcer (Denny/Dennis WTF ever). He is a D-Bag that is our worst critic. I hate listening to this idiot. He seems to always have encouraging remarks about the other team. Case in point. Texas Tech hitter "blasted" his HR out our hitter just hit it out.

Tommy gets the 1st batter in the 2nd but then a triple, intentional walk, and a Tech home run puts Tech up 8-4 in the 2nd and ends Tommy's day. Cal Carver on in relief of Tommy and gets the final 2 outs sandwiched around a single.

Tech adds a run in the 3rd to extend their lead to 9-4. Shane reporting that it's a good hitters day in Lubbock. 70 degrees with the wind blowing out briskly.

Jordan Boyer not playing today. He was ejected in the 9th inning of last night's game and per AAC rules has to sit out this game.

Tommy Barhhouse's ERA coming in was 4.50 and coming out it was 10.32. Tommy allowed 3 home runs in the 1st and 1 more in the 2nd. Tough day.

Luke Ritter lines a 1-out single to center in the Shocker 5th and Paxton Wallace follows with a bomb high and deep (as described by Shane) to left center. That makes cuts Tech lead to 3 at 9-6 and knocks out the Tech starter. This game is far from over.
