  • Pitching is struggling in game 2.

    Comment

    • It's a shame that this years pitching staff is going to be wasted with this lineup.

Hopefully the freshmen like Gillespie can catch on quick but thats hoping for a lot.

      • Mental error by minis and then catcher interference have loaded up the bases with 1 out......

        • Minnis going to third on a bunt cost Shocks a run
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

          • The Shocks have 3 whole hits...and one of those a DOUBLE!!!! WOOHOO!

            AND they've scored a run!

It's 1-1 with powerhouse Santa Clara in the top of the 7th.

                    • I really do feel sorry for all of those "Shocker" fans, who have said basketball season is just wasted time until baseball starts. I think you guys are personally out of your minds. And I'd probably be saying this if this was still a Top 20 baseball program. But as it is now, I'm mind-boggled about those types of comments. I definitely commend you for your support of the players, but am amazed that you would rather see this than a very special year in Shocker basketball.

+1- I've been equal in my support for each sport, but last year, the gap widened, and the gap has become a chasm now. I'm the opposite- I won't pay much attention to baseball until basketball is over.

                        • 1-1 bottom 8. Foster Vielock wriggles off the hook in the top of the 8th giving up 3 hits but no runs.

The really bad part is that with 20 or so home games scheduled in March and if hoops keeps rolling, we'll miss about half the home season. Of course, that may prove to be a non-issue.

                            • Halbert pops up to the shortstop on a 3-1 count (we really swing 3-1 in the bottom of the 8th with a guy that can't hit his way out of a wet paper bag?).

Davidson ropes one to the 3rd baseman for an infield single.

He advances to 2nd on a wild pitch. But Kevin Hall strands him with another ball that doesn't leave the infield. On to the 9th and Elam is in.

Yeah, having a hard time seeing the down side of that right now.
