Talked with a buddy from Campus High, he said Justin Burba, a senior OF who hit over .500 as a junior recently committed to OU. He said Burba just returned from the Area Code games and was the day one MVP on defense and went 2 for 2. Not sure how he did the rest of the games. He was All Metro last spring I think. Did the shocks recruit him??

Did Shocks recruit Justin Burba?

Well, in defense of the Shocker coaches, my buddy said OU was giving him an 80% scholly, which to me seemed ridiculous for a Kansas player, and I don't know that for a fact, just what he said. I would think WSU doesn't give 80% to hardly anyone, do they?

I wouldn't worry much at all that this kid decided to go elsewhere. I'm sure he is a great kid and will be happy at OU, and I trust the Shocks coaching staff knows what they're doing. I believe we had a great year on the recruiting end and happened to get a great local kid (and best high school player in the state IMO) out of it as well in Maize outfielder Conner Knight.Once a Shocker, Always a Shocker-- RIP Guy Alang-Ntang

I think you may have forgotten "Bubba"!
Oops, Bubba was not availabel to us since Big Lew the liar killed football!
I'm not sure I recall correctly but I think Burba was a bit forgettable and/or unproductive against the better high school teams in the area, does anyone know of stats last year against Maize, Goddard, Carroll, if Campus played them?
Seriously, I do know the kid can flat out scoot, but IMHO opinion he is not the recruit that Tyler Coughnour was. We'll see how he stacks up to Conner Knight.
I wish him the very best except against the Shocks! :goshocks: :goshocks:

If the current rules are as descirbed in this article then 25% is the minimum.
If you spread your 11.7 scholarship evenly over the 27 players allowed to receive scholarships that would result in a 43.3% scholarship.
You need 8 walk-ons if you want to carry a full roster of 35 players.
I am not at all sure what is behind these scholarship limits. Maybe they think it creates a more level playing field. My guess is Collebe Baseball is a Title IX casualty.
Personally, if you are going to allow a roster of 35, you should allow 35 kids to receive scholarships. I don't think it would hurt to raise the number of schollies either. 14 for 35 kids would give you an average of 40% scholarship coverage. Might make competing against the pros for talent a little easier.
