Interesting situation with Henderson, and if he could be competitive in the SEC he could probably do better than that in the American. But WSU went down that path in basketball, and it gave us Turgeon, who was solid but ready to jump once he could escape "this level" for something he considered a promotion. It's hard to believe Henderson wouldn't do the same. (Actually, Butler might have done so too -- but he solved the problem by not succeeding enough here to earn one, just as his prior head coaching record had indicated might happen.)

WSU should want a coach who can succeed and would treat this as a destination -- who would either think of this as the job he wants to be in or would make it into his "next job," as Marshall has done in basketball. That seems more likely with someone like a former player who's had a taste of Shocker greatness than with anyone else. Granted, he still has to be able to succeed -- no need for a baseball version of Randy Smithson -- but if he can, that's the winning choice.

Not sure I would compare turn of the century MVC basketball and current AAC baseball. Also, some people are just constant "climbers" until schools stop knocking on their door (think MT).

Regarding Henderson, he's 58 years old and in 2016, resigned as Kentucky Baseball Coach, citing burnout due to the demands of being a head coach in the SEC.

That question was asked by a banned troll over a year ago.

Yes, this thread is over a year old if that tells you how long the want to move on has been.

Though you have to admit not quite as laughable as Butler’s lapdogs that continued to support him over the past 3-4 seasons while the program continued to suffer. Players deserve better.

Guess I've missed that part. Don't confuse support for the players and program with support for the coach. I'd be surprised if you could find actual posts of more than a couple of posters who may have been showing support for Butler over the last 2 seasons. Saying the last 3-4 seasons is only giving a coach 2 seasons to turn a program around. That's interesting coming from someone who had no problem with a coach that made more than half again more money than Butler (top 10 money) and didn't have an at-large level team over his last 5 years, yet it was said that he should have been able to continue to hold that coaching position for as long as he wanted it regardless of the quality of team or his own personal issues.

By the way, I am super happy that fHCGS is back in the Shocker fold.
