McNeese State went 4-0 on the week with a home win against Houston and a road sweep at a poor Stephen F. Austin team. Cowboys are now 8-11 and riding a 6 game winning streak.
UTA just a hit a walk off homer to finish a sweep against a good Georgia State team, going 5-0 in a ridiculously good week for them (also featured wins at Texas A&M and at home versus a good Minnesota team). Mavs are now 9-9 against a tough schedule.
Omaha is 2-1 (loss @ KU, wins vs. IPFW with the series finale in progress). These guys obviously are terrible so everything they can get in excess of a dozen or so wins is gravy. 6-12 so far on the season for Omaha.
Nebraska split a pair apiece against each of Northern Colorado and Northwestern State, going 2-2. Northern Colorado is horrible and Northwestern State is decent, overall a little disappointing for the Huskers in a week where they should have been able to win 3. Huskers are 11-8 overall.
Next weekend's opponent Furman went 4-1 (road win @ Winthrop, 3 of 4 at home against Harvard. Paladins are 13-7 on the year.
Our SoS sits at 61 pending the conclusion of today's game against CU, will likely settle in somewhere in the low 50s afterward.Last edited by Play Angry; March 18, 2018, 04:26 PM.

Overall a meh week at 1-2 on the road against good competition, but today was important to avert disaster. It's a shame we did not get a rubber match against the Jays but that could have worked out against us as well - neither team was going to trot out a reliable arm for that one.
Huge 4 game homestand this week vs. OU and then Furman. We could really use (at least) 3 wins. Wonder if we will start Lungwitz against the Sooners on Tuesday?

After stinking up the joint in Columbia and losing like they did yesterday this was a very badly needed win and performance by the Shocks. First time to stumble for Liam Eddy but I think he will snap back. Good job by the Shocks to scratch their way back into a lead after falling behind early pretty good execution. Excellent relief work by Cody and Chase. Tommy got the job done although the tying run did get to the plate.
Sounds like Luke Ritter swung the bat very well today in the lead off spot. We could certainly use more production at that spot.

Staff ERA sits at 3.61 after today with nearly 30% of the schedule behind us. Steele doing a very nice job so far this season, especially with the bullpen.

I think we have to be a little cautious in evaluating the team at this point. The schedule post-Furman appears significantly more imposing then the schedule up ot that point. I still say let's see where we are after the Houston series.
Starting depth by year end might be better if Cody Tyler and Alex Segal continue to make strides and build up their pitch counts. Cody was very good todau for sure.

1-2 on the Teams With a Pulse Tour.
Still see similar miscues that have been going on since ButlerBall took over.
I can't believe they're trucking Barnhouse out to close. I guess they figured 3 runs were enough of a cushion. It was. Barley.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Luke Ritter did reward the coaches confidence in him by batting him leadoff while hitting below the Mendoza line with a 2 for 5, 1 HR (1), 3 RBI.
Paxton Wallace got rewarded with his PH success yesterday with a start at DH and was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI.
Shockers pitchers struck out 14 and walked 4 (10 K's in final 5 innings)

This has not been been a great weekend for Shocker fans until today. The Shocker men's basketball team losing to Marshall, reigining MVC Golfer Yannick Emmert shoots a 14-over round of 85 in Arizona including a 9 on a par 3, the Shocker baseball team loses to Creighton 3-1 on a 2-run walk of homer, the 27th ranked Shocker women's tennis team get's whitewashed by #32 Tulsa 7-0 in Tulsa, the Shocker softball team gave up 2 runs to Iowa in the bottom of the 6th and lost 3-2 on Saturday and then they lost to Creighton on a walk off hit in extra innings later in the day. To top that off Houston loses a buzzer beater to Michigan at IBA Arena and by Saturday night it certainly seems like the cosmic tumblers have become totally misaligned as far as the Shocks are concerned.
Earlier today the Shocker Men's tennis team lost 4-1 to Dartmouth although Dartmouth is ranked 22nd so that one was mostly expected. Finally though the Shocker baseball and softball teams came through in style with baseball avenging the Creighton loss with a 7-4 win and the softball team avenging both their Saturday losses with a 12-5 win over Iowa and a 9-1 thrashing of Creighton.
Hopefully, that will knock their the Shocker's cosmic tumblers back into a more proper alignment.

Great to see WSU-Creighton renewed as a series, rather than a midweek game. Though I’m not not sure what the RPI benefit would be to WSU. Easy travel, I guess. Creighton baseball has some pro prospects but the program took a hit with the conference move. Going forward this season, Creighton should do well on Fridays, Saturdays a tossup, Sundays a disaster, should do well in midweek. Probably a team that finishes around .550-600.
Teams looked pretty even this past weekend. Both need Sunday pitching, so it would’ve been a crapshoot as to who would win a game 3. Shocks have superior hitting up and down the lineup, but Creighton’s decent at scratching out runs when needed. Would be nice to combine both capabilities onto one one team!
