What we have here is a Stephenson family member still butthurt about Gene not being able to not catch Augie.

And one that didn’t take the time to learn the game of College Baseball and recruiting from one of the greatest coaches ever.

In fact, he probably has all the OU bandwagon gear from when Uncle Gene left for Norman. Still thinking about how much better life would have been in OKC.

Can't even answer the questions I asked because you know you'll be backed into a corner and won't be able to get out.

Typical Cajun butthurt. Let us know when you want us to wake you up from your dream and come play with the big kids in realityland.

Typical troll butthurt with no reading comprehension. I answered your questions before you even asked them.

Try re-reading, then quit your butthurt hatred of anyone who was happy to see a new leader for the program.

BTW, your “realityland” is a place that doesnt exist. Its not 1997 anymore.

          Wow that deteriorated quickly.

Boyd's RPI/ISR is interesting. According to that a top 45 finish seems almost out of reach. Did I read that correctly?

I believe Boyd's RPI/ISR has been fairly accurate in past years but I'm assuming if we go 55-1 we would be in the top 8 RPI. If we go 55-1 does anyone really care what our RPI is? We will be ranked #1 in every poll.

Boyd is just listing the scenario that WSU could reach various threshold base on today data. It is a snapshot for today - as the conference does better (or worse) will effect that snapshot. Much like rpi will fluctuate a little wildly over the next month I expect this to fluctuate also.

I noticed that Boyd's ISR still shows WSU in the MVC. I wonder if the needs report also reflects our needs if we were still in the MVC?

IMO, in a typical environment, you have to really have shown substantial progress within 5 years, because you have had time to turn over your athletes and staff. The problem is this was far from a typical environment given he didn't get to fully name his staff from the get-go. I think that buys him a couple extra years since what I have seen you guys primarily bitching about the past couple of years (pitching) is directly correlated to the key staff member that he didn't get to choose. (I know you guys have been bitching about a lot more than just pitching, but that has been the lion's share of it).

He needs to really show a lot of progress this year. If he does, then he needs to show substantial progress by next year. I just don't know what "substantial" means in college baseball terms.

Progress this year is above .500 despite being in a much tougher conference.

We have a really good young arm, and two more for next year with a couple young hitters to replce Jenista and Bohm would mean a Top 3 AAC finish.

Effort and talent are there, just need to clean up base running, fond the right line up, and then have the pitchers continue to grow.

We should definitely score enough runs to get over .500 this year even if pitching doesnt take a big step forward. I like what I have seen so far, but given the competition, we have a long ways to go to finishing what we started.

But I implore the fans to get out and support this team. Not since Casey have we had a hitter like Bohm, and we have Jenista also!! Liam Eddy is a solid freshman who looks poised to be a Friday Night guy by start of next year. Gene is back in the mix. Good things are happening.

If we lose Bohm and Jenista after this season and finish in the top 3 in the AAC next year, I think there will be tons of people willing to give HCTB another chance. I think that is a HUGE if, but winning fixes everything. Now if we go 20-3 the first half of the season and then finish 35-21 I don't think that will cut it. Like others have said, we really won't know much about this team until mid-April since our SOS is so different from last year to this year.

I’ll be here no matter what but promise me you won’t go crickets again like the last few years when/if things go south.

I love how Florida gets swept mid-week by UCF and falls... 1 place to #2 (D1 Baseball and Coaches Poll). Remember the good old days when we would go 5-1 in a week and drop 5 to 7 places? I guess it is already been decided Florida is going to be a national seed and host a regional. I think they are a good team but look at their results. They have only played 3 games against teams over .500 and lost 2 of the 3. I was thinking we were ranked a bit high based on our SoS. But if you compare us to Florida we should probably be top 10 (Florida RPI 64, SoS 198, 15-3, ranked #2).

                    Wins
                    3 over 0-14 Sienna (273)
                    1 over 11-4 FAU (5)
                    1 over 6-11 Bethune-Cookman (154)
                    2 over 7-8 Miami (113)
                    2 over 8-9 N. Florida (226)
                    3 over 7-7 Stony Brook (227)
                    3 over 2-11 Rhode Island (107)

                    Losses
                    1 to 7-8 Miami (113)
                    2 to 13-3 UCF (81)

Good break down. Basically the "best of the best" aren't winning awards for scheduling top non-con either.

It will be interesting to see how much we fall in the rankings with a 1-2 week against good competition. I still expect us to be RV. I can't believe our RPI has skyrocketed to 12!!! We are 10-0 against teams at or below .500 and 3-4 against teams with a winning record. We are also 1-2 against the top 50 RPI teams (Mizzou and CU are both top 25). I seriously doubt CU will stay top 50 RPI for long.

We are going to need to find a more consistent way to score other than HRs. We hit 14 HRs in our first 8 games (1.75 HRs per game) including 5 multi-HR games, but we have only hit 6 HRs in our last 9 games (.67 HR per game) with only one multi-HR game. The step up in competition obviously has a lot to do with that, we only hit .214 as a team this week with 1 HR).

                        Records vs.:

                        RPI 1 - 50: 1-2
                        RPI 51 - 100: 6-1
                        RPI 101 - 150: 3-0
                        RPI 150+: 3-1

This is the basketball equivalent of ~Christmas as the OOC wraps up and conference play gets underway so, while the RPI remains volatile, it is rounding into form and this is generally the beginning point of when it gains relevancy each year. Our prior opponents had a terrific week as noted in a couple of other threads.

Agreed that we will see a dip in votes but should still be RV across the board. This week has the potential to produce a very big move in either direction.
