The big news is LSU got punished for not playing non-conference road games.

Also I guess in St. Johns case it good to have a representative on the selection committee.

The biggest issue is consistency in selection. This committee used RPI as a tool and looked at other things than just RPI. Next year committee might be the opposite and RPI will rule the selection.
Who cares who got in, WSU certainly wasn't worthy.

WSU did it to themselves, I can think of 5-6 games off top of my head they simply gave away with piss poor execution. What would their RPI had been with an 45-20 record instead of 39-26?

Every game matters, unfortunately the team didn't even act like it till it was do or die. When if they just played smart and "tough", for lack of a better word, ALL season they could have easily gotten in even with their sub offensive talent.

Whoopty do. And you'd think with so many ACC schools with such gaudy RPI numbers and hosting, that 5 or 6 of em should get to the CWS and surely one will actually win it for the first time in its history.

I wonder how 29-26 Baylor got an at large...

LSU gets left out at 36-20

LSU did not make the SEC Tournament and finished last in the SEC West in what seems to be a pretty mediocre year for the division. Arkansas won the West with a .500 conference record (and we're in somewhat of a rebuilding year).

I don't have a problem at all with LSU being left out even though most years I do think the SEC will earn 8 spots in the NCAA tournament. This wasn't one of those years.

St. John's was 1-6 vs. Top 50. Wichita State was 6-4. I would have rather seen your guys in there than St. John's or LSU.

Thanks for the props. According to Sully's blog, WSU was also 10-5 against the tournament field.

This years team was certainly capable of competing well in the ncaa regionals. Unfortunately WSU just lost too many games against mediocre competition and it put the overall rpi outside of the relm of what the committee would consider for inclusion in the tournament.

WSU was literally about 2 or 3 wins (against anyone on our schedule) away from getting strong consideration for an at large bid. Considering the large number of 1 run losses we had, it wouldn't have taken much to get those wins. :wsu_posters:

Thanks for the kind words Charlie but there were FAR more deserving teams than us that could have been included over St. John's. I do agree with everyone on the Big East mystery, including St. John's inclusion. I guess the BCS is slowly starting to creep into NCAA baseball as well.

With that said, it's gonna suck watching from the sidelines for a second year in a row. Just not used to it. Just doesn't seem to be the same anymore. We used to always listen to MK well into June following the team. So sad..

Good luck Charlie in the regionals. I think you have a pretty legitimate shot in your region. You guys could have been a No.1 seed.

I think that the SEC was a little down this year. The west, as you pointed out, had most teams at below .500. In the east, even the Gators with their good pitching, weren't terrific. I watched them in the four games they played with FSU.

But, saying that, I still expect that Vandy, Florida, and South Carolina will be in a super.

I think Florida has a very good team. In my BA bracket I picked them to win it all.

Florida is very good...the match ups with FSU have not gone well for them...1-3 this year. But those were four single games.

Florida is a much better team in a tournament than FSU since FSU has only one good pitcher and after that, in a series, things can rapidly go bad.
