I am no expert, but I thought I heard Shane say something about them using this year as a test run for the CWS and that they might be worried about the wear and tear on the field from that many games. But he also said the Storm Chasers don't play there, so they don't have to worry about them. So I guess I don't know, maybe somebody else knows more, that is just what I heard on one of our broadcasts. I hope it is not going to be there forever, I like it being in Wichita.
THERE ARE FLOCKS OF BIRDS AND MANY A CAT ------ BUT ONLY ONE WUSHOCK!
We thought it was going to alternate permanently (with the Eck) when JQH in Springfield came online, but the novelty in Springpatch wore off soon thereafter... and it was Wichita only again.
I'd guess the same fate for the MVC tourney at the new TDA Park. Unless Creighton baseball fans suddenly invent themselves from nothing, the novelty of the new park to Omaha residents for the purposes of the MVC tourney will be short-lived. That effect is exacerbated even moreso for the town that hosts the CWS just a few short weeks later.
If the MVC is concerned primarily with gate receipts, Wichita will probably always be the cornerstone.

The scuttlebutt around TD Ameritrade Park today is that the MVC tourney is going to be at Springfield, MO next year. Apparently it is one of the few years that the Bears can get the stadium from the Cardinals so the feeling is that the Valley admininstrators will award it to the Bears.

It's all so inane. If you want to have the tourney at a completely neutral minor league park in a non-MVC town, then fine. The gate receipts would be next to nothing, but whatever, it's no one's home. However if you're going to place it in a home facility (term used VERY loosely in certain instances) of an MVC program, then if the selection criteria isn't based on finances, then what is the criteria exactly? Why not Peoria? Why not Timbuktu? Either you're biased for justifiable reasons ($$$), or your biased for... what exactly? Playing keep away from 1 of only 2 or 3 athletic departments in the entire conference that actually gives a sheet about D1 college sports?
EDIT: BTW what's the attendance been like so far at the new NCAA-decreed, taxpayer-funded, 2/3rds scale MLB park in the Paris of the Great Plains?

The attendance numbers are not currently shown in the box scores. How hard can it be to count to 40?

I can't find attendance numbers anywhere. Anybody else?
Also...a question...what's the situation on the MVC tournament? Is it primarily going to be in Omaha now?
Depends on how much money MVC and CU want to lose. My guess is WSU will continue to host a majority of the time.
It seems like everytime somebody open up a new park or does a major refurbishment they want to host and who it off. But they don't want to do it every year or even every other year because it is a losing proposition.

CU should have to pay the difference in gate that would have been earned by hosting in Wichita to the conference. A bar should be set that in order to host, you've got to hit this number.
I guess we got the answer. CU didn't even bid for the tournament next year. Indy state, msu and wsu bid for it next year. Any predictions on who will be chosen? My guess is not wsu.
Also from shockwaves it says that there is 25,000 minimum bid.
