2011 MVC Baseball Tournament

There was about a 2 hour window before the rains come tonight in Omaha and it looks like Ed probably asked for the delay til tomorrow. And so it is. BU vs. sCUm at 9:00 tomorrow. 70% of rain tomorrow too. Would have been nice to see them get in a half a game but I bet Ed whined about losing a pitcher after only a half game of work and they caved. Wonder if it would have been like this for any other teams?

And so it is, with a 70% chance of rain tomorrow, sCUm gets pushed back for tomorrow AM.

Yeah, looks like getting games in were more important down here than catering to the home team up there. How convenient indeed.

Well, with rain in the forecast all day tomorrow, it'll be lucky if we get a couple of games in. The loser of the sCUm-BU game ws originally destined for a 12:30pm game tomorrow so I wonder how things will shake out.

Currently, still overcast and dry in Omaha. Could have been in the 2nd or 3rd inning by now.

This is true, but I also don't like seeing the sCUm gaining every advantage that they can...

Yeah, this is junk. I was at our first game last year in Wichita til that one ended early in the morning. No reason they couldn't have started it. It'll be interesting to see how many games they can get in tomorrow.

I hate to admit it, but this makes me HAPPY.

We can't leave ICT until about noon, so the 4PM start was going to be real tough. I figured with normal delays, we'd get there close to game time, but now I think we'll make it without a problem even if the rain doesn't come.

Of course, this throws off the ENTIRE tournament schedule. There was once a rule that no team could play 3 games in one day, so everything starts getting pushed back and the Friday "if necessary" games will be preceded by games earlier in the day to complete out the schedule.

Another hitch in the plan, though, is that my bribe to everyone to go to Omaha was Taylor Swift concert tickets for Friday night (you know, that "if necessary" game day). I may be running back and forth between the stadium and the Qwest center to see what I want to see. :)

I'll never admit it in public if I do! ;) I wasn't even going to buy myself a concert ticket, but my girls wll be so amped over the concert it will be a treat to watch.

The MVC baseball tournament has always been a fun trip on the rare occasion it isn't in Wichita. I'm just not ready for baseball to be over - heck the weather has finally started to get warm and the days long.

The goofy thing with the tournament is always weather issues. Last go 'round in Springfield, I don't think any game started at the scheduled time on the scheduled day. Not sure why they even make a schedule, for chrissakes, it is spring in the Plains.

All that said, it is WRONG that Creighton was able to duck playing Tues. The up-side is the Shox won't have to face a rested Dufek or Blach in this tournament.

And I would bet their fans are complaining about it. Well, it starts at the top. I dont think Servais has ever liked a tourney format. Not running into Dufek or Blach would be a bonus, although we have to take care of our own business.

Looks like Bradley suspended their one and only pitcher for today's game...it's already cost them 2 runs...one being a catcher's balk, which I've never seen until now.
