Jays get their first 1-2-3 inning in the 9th to win 3-1. The Jays pitchers never did get a single strike out today.

A very wierd game. Guttin's coaching decisions were so bad today that one might think he was trying to lose on purpose. ;-)

That doesn't exactly narrow it down you know.

The Jays announcers seem to think Creighton has a great chance for an at large bid if they fail to win the Valley tournament.

Today's attendance was announced at 6300.

The Valley has moved up to #7 in conference rpi (warren nolan):

Creighton also has a 38 rpi so they may have a chance at an at large.

On the other side, they are 0-0 against the rpi top 50. WSU, btw has a 5-2 record against the rpi top 50 (but our rpi is just 79).

I would stick with Boyds RPI calculations - they are likely closer to the NCAA since he's tries to match the NCAA formula of rewards and penalties.

                  MVC is No. 9
                  CU is 43
                  MSU is 63
                  WSU is 72

Would have been nice to bring home the hardware, but I actually like the play of the 2 seed better. This team seems to play half-assed baseball when they get crowned things like No.1 seeds and get big heads. I'd rather them come in with a chip on their shoulder than be the hunted, at least for this year.

sCUm has one of the best years of their history and they win the final game of the season to avoid a conference shared championship with WSU, having one of the worst years in its program's history. That's a great summary.

                    ... No really, deuces.

You mean he told his guys to hit into all those DPs? Wow, that is suspicious!

Either that, or he's an even worse coach than Gene is, if such a thing were possible. Amazing how easy the game becomes when the task is just to comment on managerial decisions instead of making them...

Since you mentioned the DPs, in at least one of those, he had guys on first and second with nobody out. Instead of bunting them over, the batter hit into a DP. The batter was Medrano who is a fairly fast runner but he had already hit into 5 DPs this season.

It was just frustrating to listen to because the Bears had runners on base in every inning except the 9th. They had at least 12 base runners and only managed to score one run.

I was kidding when I posted that, but he certainly didn't do a very good job.

Interesting MSU went from contender to the 4th seed after this weekend. Which also dropped them into the CU bracket. I guess we get to see if the 4th time is a charm for MSU against the sCUm. :yahoo:

From now on please refer to the Creighton BJ's as "The Class of the Valley" whenever their name is mentioned.

This is mandatory over on the new Valley Talk site and optional, but encouraged, anyplace else.

Creighton BJ's, "The Class of the Valley" - Isn't that one of them there oxymoronic phrases?
