Tyler Baker, UT, Topeka, Kan., (Shawnee Heights)

Last I knew, Baker was hitting .478 and catching for the 15-0 Heights team. He hit a two run homer to tie Seaman in the sixth caping off a come from down 5-1 effort. But that was 2 weeks ago. Haven't seen anything since.

Recruits

It would be interesting to hear how Sam Hall is doing in Ogden, UT, this year. He led the state in HR's as a JR last year with 11. He has good size at 6-1, 220.

It would also be interesting to hear how Kyle Vail, a 6-5, pitcher is doing down in Moore, OK.

Hopefully he can get over that JUCO transfer hump rather quickly next season, as offense will be needed.

What do you think a .362 juco batting average translates to in D1 ball? .280? .290?

He is a .350ish career hitter at Juco. I don't know it could be .225 or could be .300. Regardless would you not take an outfielder hitting .290 right now? lol

Also just remember they probably see around 250 at bats total so the difference between hitting .360 and .400 would be 10 hits. Granted you could argue the difference between .360 and .320 would be 10 hits.

There's an adjustment period, to be sure.

Andy Dirks hit .412 his soph. year at Hutch, then hit .320 his first season at WSU and .388 as a senior

Will Baez -- .435 (albeit in a shitty league and/or juiced ballpark) then .275/.284

Kent Becker -- .427 (Hutch), then .305/.273

Nick Blasi -- .410 (Butler), then .321/.366

These are the quotes from the OWH article that seem to be bothering them the most:

“My brother never told me to go there or not to go there,” Casey said. “But I liked the coaches, and that made me feel real comfortable about my decision.”

Cork said several other Division I schools would have been pursuing Gillaspie this season if the senior had waited to make his college selection.

“Wichita State was on him early, and I think that was the difference,” the coach said. “Schools that were looking at him after that missed out."

Having played against Aaron twice this year, I was never wow'ed by him. He has a solid arm in the outfield but his bat wasn't awe inspiring. I hope that he just wasn't on his game those nights and can come in and help the Shocks immediately.
