    Very nice job, Shocks.

Always easier when you have a stud on the mound and in total control of the game.

Add in good offensive production and solid defense and you have yourself a nice little concoction.

Can we duplicate the recipe tomorrow? I hope so, but no guarantees.

What is CU's strategy with this?

Great win tonight! Charlie pitched a great game and the Shox came thru with lots of hits against a pitcher who hasn't given up much all year.

Until tonight the Cu starter was undefeated and hadn't given up more than 3 earned runs in a single game all year.

Let's keep this up! GO SHOX!

Tyler Blach, who pitched tonight, came into the game 7-0 with a 2.31 ERA.

Jonas Dufek, who will pitch tomorrow, is 7-1 with a 2.33 ERA.

Not sure their is a gnat's eyelash worth of difference statistically. Blach is a lefty and Dufek is a righty.

Not sure there is that much strategic advantage. IIRC, the Shocks have a tougher time with righties than lefties.

Blach had never given up more than 8 hits in a game in his career. The Shocks got to him for 13 hits tonight.

I'm not anticipating that they will be able to duplicate that effort against the righty, Dufek, on Saturday. Let's hope Brian Flynn brings his A game. I am expecting a close, low-scoring pitcher's duel tomorrow. (So if you're smart you will put down a bet for an over/under of about 20 runs).

There's not much difference at all between their #1 and their #2. In fact, the guy tonight was undefeated.

            They really have a 1a and a 1b.

His era is 0.5 run lower, his whip is <1 and opponents are hitting only 0.197 which is considerably lower than 0.260. He is also strikes out more per 9 innings.

I have to give a shout out to Charlie Lowell tonight.

He pitched a totally awesome game. CU never had a threatening inning. It was the first time that CU had been shut out this season.

Our hitters also came through tonight. Grimes going 4 for 5 with a homer and a stolen base led the way.

It was also nice seeing the Shockers hit 3 home runs in a game (Preston, Lambert, Grimes). It's been awhile since we've done that.

It was also a good crowd. Second one in a row over 5,000. It was a fun time all the way around at the yard tonight.

Always nice to beat the sCUm.

No matter how much this brings a smile to my face, I just don't have any confidence in the consistency so I will go into tomorrow with low expectations and hope for the best..

The Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde Shox team showed its good side Friday.

When Lowell and Flynn pitch, they entire team seems to play with more confidence in all phases of the game. When they get on the board quickly, they seem to be able to maintain their concentration.

Lowell was as close to perfect as a pitcher could be on Friday. sCUm hitters couldn't guess what was coming and when they did couldn't get fat bat on anything. Charlie was MASTERFUL.

Blach is no crap pitcher, but the Shox were relentless on offense, hitting the ball early and often - a tendency they have not displayed much this season. The Shox aren't terrible hitters when they are aggressive, but they aren't aggressive often enough. The Grimes and Lambert homers were sort of icing on the cake, but I think should help the hitters' mentality. Lambert's was probably wind-blown, but the others were legit. You get a good pitch or two to hit almost every AB, you can't let them go by when they come.

As stated, Flynn needs to bring his A game. The hitters need to stay aggressive against a very good pitcher, and the defense needs to be solid, not spectacular.

Let's even up this race TODAY!

In hindsight the Cu coach is looking like he made a smart move. Since Lowell gave up no runs, odds are that Cu would have lost that game anyway.

But if the Cu Friday starter who gave up 8 runs had pitched against Flynn on Saturday, Cu could have easily lost that game too.

By saving their #1 to pitch Saturday, the Jays managed to eeke out one win. Otherwise they would have probably been swept.
