  • Shocks v Hawks Game 2

Good guys getting killed again, 6-0 in the 2nd.

With a loss tonight, we will be 21-21 since our opening cream puff opponents.

Some close friends who are LONG time season ticket holders and reasonably big boosters talking about staying home the rest of the season. Why show up if the team isn't willing to, I suppose.

Had an opportunity to go tonight, but passed. Last night showed me enough of what was about to happen.

Just checking the score out of curiosity from time to time.

I see Mr. Error has already contributed to two unearned runs and 2 errors. Awesome.

The apathy for this program is already shown by the lack of game threads and posts on this forum. I just want this season to end ASAP and pray for a change.

I'm pro-WSU on everything and it's taking a lot to bypass a home game on a beautiful night against KU.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

There's a baseball game tonight? Wow. KU in town? Oh.

      I'm watching hockey....

Shocks get a lead off triple in the 5th and can not score in a game they are trailing by 7.

That shows me a team that is simply uninterested in competing and a team with either no pride or no ability (or perhaps both).

This just shows you how far our program and the entire MVC has fallen. The 3rd place team in the Valley should NOT be getting worked by a sub-.500 bottom feeder in the Big 12.

Gene needs to adjust who he is recruiting ASAP or it's only going to get worse.

It has to be ability, unless Gene just recruited a bunch of guys who are in it for the on-campus publicity playing on the baseball team brings them. And that could be entirely true.

Every program hits rock bottom at one point or another. Losing to KU fits the bill.

Eric, are you listening to your customer base?

I was just checking our basketball recruiting forum, when I stumbled upon this...ho-hum...just another loss for our mid-level MVC baseball team.

I think it will get worse next year. Perhaps Gene's 1st sub-500 year.

I anticipate that, in addition to Tim Kelley, we will lose Charlie Lowell and Brian Flynn (turned 21 in April) to the draft. Josh Smith is also draft eligible although I doubt he will be selected very early. Justin Kemp is also gone although he has pitched only sparingly. Outside of Cale Elam not sure we have any consistent quality pitching coming back.

We also could very easily lose the entire heart of the order. Preston Springer uses up his eligibility. Hard to believe Chris O'Brien won't get an attractive draft/offer. Johnny Coy turned 21 last July so he is draft eligible also.

Any recruit who is paying attention to what is going on and gets drafted may very well opt to skip college and sign a pro contract regardless of price.

The glass is looking close to empty from my viewpoint and I am usually not so pessimistic.

                  :(

                    10 runs surrendered

                    6 errors

                    0 runs scored

Kennedy and Shane are pouring through the record-books, looking for the worst defeat ever while getting skunked. So far, they've made it back to 1952.

                      Is this in bad taste?

                      From the Godfather II:

Tom Hagen: When a plot against the Emperor failed... the plotters were always given a chance to let their families keep their fortunes. Right?

Frank Pentangeli: Yeah, but only the rich guys, Tom. The little guys got knocked off and all their estates went to the Emperors. Unless they went home and killed themselves, then nothing happened. And the families... the families were taken care of.

Tom Hagen: That was a good break. A nice deal.

Frank Pentangeli: Yeah... They went home... and sat in a hot bath... opened up their veins... and bled to death... and sometimes they had a little party before they did it.

I do hope the fan that was hit in the face with the line drive foul was not hurt too badly. A sucky night made even worse.
