Actually it is 8-2, although not sure it makes that much difference at this point. The runner going to 3rd was thrown out to end the inning before the 9th run crossed home plate.

        You are right.

Does anyone know what happened to Josh Smith? I missed the first half of the game, but I see he was out early on a low pitch count. Not an injury I hope?

No injury. He was just ineffective and was being hit hard.

That is comparatively good news. Gracias.

The Eagle did say something about Josh not having great success with ISU. I think the paper said he had a career 10+ era against these guys. Some teams just have your number I guess.

SIU takes the series against Creighton with a 2-1 win.

A Shocker comeback would leave us tied for 1st place. Just sayin.

                  Good guys perish, 9-4.

Not a bad series given my lowered expectations. Hopefully we can trip up the Pokes on pack the park night.

Yeah, not a bad series for this team. Pretty illustrative, I thnk, of why post season play is a real long shot for this team especially if Tim Kelley doesn't make it back in time for the MVC Tournament. Which means in time to get at least one and, hopefully, two outings before the MVC Tournament.

You won't win many games when you allow 10 hits (including 3 doubles and 2 homers), give up 10 walks and commit 3 errors.

I am as happy as a clam with this weekend.

With my lowered expectations two out of three is great as far as I am concerned!

As mentioned before the Shox do need to get TK back in a big way to have any type of post season chance.

Maybe ES will get a pair and fire Gene and bring in someone that can get it done.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

Or bring in someone to take us to the BOTTOM of the Valley be careful what you wish for.
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

so you are saying WSU wouldn't draw a quality coaching hire?

We need a healthy Kelley back. That's all I take from this game. Not a total loss with Friday and Saturday.Hopefully we can knock off Okie state and head on to Carbondale and do some damage.

                              +1

It is currently a tough, cruel world for non-BCS teams. The new Big 12 football contract which will pretty much double the money big 12 teams are getting is only going to make things even tougher.

It is pretty amazing that we have never finished worse than 3rd in the Valley since 1984. (We have only finished 3rd twice and 2nd 4 times since 84) All teams have rebuilding years, we have never experienced a real bad one yet.

As bad as we talk about the last 10 years being (relative to the previous 10 years of this program). We have still managed to either win or tie for the Valley regular season title or won the Valley tournament title 8 of those 10 years.

That is still pretty outstanding even if it is what we consider a bad 10 years for our program.
