Shocks still control their own destiny if they can continue to play at the level they played the past 2 days.
The Heart of the Order is finally showing a heartbeat. Chris who continues to be on fire (Warning: do not attempt to shake Chris O'Brien's hand, you are likely to be severly burnt) now is getting some help as Preston and Johnny appear to have awakened from hibernation. This threesome went 22 of 43 with 6 home runs and 22 RBI's in the Evansville series. Maybe it was crappy Evansville pitching but if they can continue production anywhere close to that the Shocks will be tough to beat.
Just as importantly is that Brian Flynn appears to have rediscovered his game and has been very good in his last two outings which could not have come at a better time. 8 K's vs 1 BB in 7 innings today. That will work just fine.
Shocks did make 2 errors today (none by Grimes) but neither proved costly. One of the problems during our struggles was that it seemed like every error lead to bad things. Good teams overcome those errors and one teammate picks up another instead of throwong gasoline on the fire.
Today the Shocks did that.
Welcome back to the Party Coy and Springer. This is what I expected from our middle of the order hitters.I'm still burnt from the Friday game.Oh well,on to Stillwater!!!
These last two games have looked like the Shocker baseball were all used to seeing.
Great games. Now on to a very tough game at Stillwater and then an important conference series next weekend in Wichita against the pre-season favorites the Illinois St. Redbirds.
