Weak play by green and *&%$$# throw by Halbert costs a run...unbelievable. This has to be the dumbest shocker team I have ever seen and I will be so glad when Muncrief gets his bachelor's degree.

Well I think we established a couple of things tonight:

            1. We have not turned the corner and continue to make too many bad baseball plays.

            2. Evansville's pitching must really be bad this year.

Shox 3 #15 Okie St. 4, Cale Elam in to pitch for the Shox.

Back to back doubles is some home cookin' scoring. Green has to make the play in left. I'd like to see the 2nd one again, because I think it could have been caught.....maybe should have been, but I could be wrong. Green's play was a botched play for sure.

We did get 10 hits tonight at the #15 team's yard.

Yep, and about 3 of those were actually well struck.

This team simply lacks basic fundamentals. That's the difference between them being a pretty good team and a very average team.

Might as well just accept it and move on.

It all comes down to that last weekend in May in sCUmville.
                    Deuces Valley.
                    ... No really, deuces.

                      3. There's no such thing as momentum in baseball.

'85 right - That is conventional wisdom in baseball that we forget. It only takes 1 on the mound to shut a hot hitting team down. Yesterday shutout means nothing today if the pitcher can't locate his pitches today.

There is no doubt that the tone of each game is pretty set by the pitchers.

However, I think it also true that everyday players and sometimes entire teams go through hot spells and cold spells.

Still the problem with the Shocks is that they just make too many poor baseball plays that give too much advantage to the opponent and at times they seem to take innings, at bats or pitching sequences off and lose focus. They simply are not good enough to get away with this. That is the one thing that has been pretty consistent and has not been limited to any one or two players.

So far the have not shown an ability to eliminate or minimize these shortcomings for any extended series of games.

Still if Lowell, Flynn and Smith pitch up to their capabilities we should be competitive in most MVC games although at this point it looks like post-season play for the Shocks will come down to winning the MVC Tournament.

... and your observation is not limited to the players.

I have decided to lower my expectations for this team to ZERO.

If they win or lose it does not matter.

If they lose it is not a big deal I did not expect them to win, it they pull one out it is icing on the cake.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!
