Chris sure makes it difficult to play our poor hitting on the new bats.
Swing at good pitches, put a good swing on the ball, square it up and you can hit with these bats.
The only bad thing is that if Chris keeps this up all year he is out of here after this season.
BTW, thanks to Guttin for bringing in a guy with a 19 ERA which just jumped a bunch.
If I were an opposing coach I would NEVER, EVER give Chris O'Brien anything he can reach until the guys hitting behind him prove they can protect him. Force those guys to beat you.

Absolutely. You wonder if that won't be coming to a ballpark near you in the near future.

Unfortunately I am sure that all of the other Valley coaches are going to figure this out very fast.
Hopefully Preston and Coy can get it going to make them pitch to OB.
Hege misplays a flyball on the 1st batter of the game into a triple. Tone set. An error but not ruled an error.
Josh Smith with the biggest error of the game when he misplayed the bunt.
Aaron LaBrie follows Tyler's error with a gopher ball.
Johnny Coy with a lackadaisical effort on a ball down the line. An error of omission, again not ruled an error.
Preston Springer failing to advance Chris O after a lead off double early in the game.
Outside of Chris no one on this team seems to be able to have their teammates back and pick them up.
Johnny Coy looking more and more like a project everyday at the plate.
Kevin Hall with 4 strikeouts. This from a guy who should be a contact hitter. If I'm Gene, then Kevin would be bunting at least 2 times a game.
And that's just a few things I can recall.
Shane summed it up pretty well. The time for talking is past. You can't trade these guys and you can't call anyone up from the minors. This is what we have. The injuries are piling up and that no doubt has hurt significantly.
At this point I am of the opinion that we are not underachieving. Outside of Chris O we simply are not very good.
Were down to a couple of dependable, although not overpowering pitchers and we bullpen is trending in the wrong direction. If Tim Kelley doesn't make it back we are in really deep crap. Maybe Albert Minnis can step up but that remains to be seen.
We simply are not competing at a traditional Shocker level.
Also, lets hope that Grimes doesn't pull a Tanner Welch and single handedly lose the series to MSU at their place like Tanner Welch did.
Well, looks like Mr. Error strikes again. He single-handedly helped us lose game 1. The 3 unearned runs given up on another of his muff-ups was the difference in the score.
Again, the con to the argument is that people say who do you replace Grimes with?
WELL WHOEVER IT IS SURE COULDN'T DO ANY WORSE, LIKE COST US GAME AFTER GAME, AND GIVE UP UNEARNED RUN AFTER UNEARNED RUN.
SIT GRIMES DOWN.
Oh and everyone else besides COB didn't help much either.
How embarrassing that we dropped a game to this embarrassment of a program.
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

you can't sugar coat - this is a program that is a shell of itself. They are not getting the quality of players, and the players they have show no development.

let's just give Gene & Co. some more money, that will fix it.
I didn't hear a lot of people complaining about our Super Regional runs in 07 and 08. With that said, the Shox did not parlay the success they had those two years with high profile recruits that would continue the tradition and profile of a top 25 program.
Even with the upgrade to the facilities, the program is declining ever so slightly. This will be the worst year in Shocker baseball in the past quarter century. Unless they can pull off some sort of Fresno State miracle, I guess we will have to wait until next year to see how this program bounces back.
What will be the most fitting end to this debacle of a season is if we once again go 0 and 2 against KSU like we did last year and go winless against KU.
