  • Grimes .915 Field %

Have we ever had a worse fielding SS?

There have been a lot of bad fielders out there but he could be the worst of the bunch.

McCoola was at .881% as a freshman but got somewhat better and had a higher batting average his first two seasons.

Didn't Kemnitz say something before the season about Grimes being the best of all time, he must have been feeling the effects of a line drive off of his dome.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

Needs to move to outfield period.

Chuck Knoblauch desease can be deadly to a teams at large or seeding prospects. It is not easily curable either, Ask Chuck Knoblauch.

I like Grimes a lot but you can't ignore what is going on at SS. His bat is certainly needed and there is an open spot in the outfield that isn't producing.

Grimes in left and Halbert or Parker at short is worth at shot. Wish they would try it...

Whats the worse that can happen? The new shortstop makes an error?

          .914% now.

Time to make a change Gene, put him somewhere but not at SS.

I don't know much about baseball. I had to look up fielding percentage. To make sure I understand it corrrectly, roughly one of every ten balls Grimes gets to ends in something other than an out? Fair to assume he leads the team in errors?

That would sum it up correctly

Now I'm not going to blame the recent pitching failures on Grimes, but when a pitcher has no confidence in the defense behind him there will be an impact. Will this cause a pitcher to change his mindset in having to throw a perfect pitch every time out? When you start to over think pitching, it must negatively impact your game.

I'm sorry but little leaguers have better fielding numbers than that.

16 errors in 32 games sucks. Put him in leftfield for one game and see how it goes.

Layoff of Tyler. He is the heart and soul of the team. In a fielding slump, he will get through this.

He just may kill this team with his poor defense, fielding at an .908 clip per the latest numbers, hide him in right field or DH.

Fielding and hitting slump is a better description.

Sorry, he's one of "Gene's boy's". He's not moving anywhere.
