Yes we did allow 11 walks in the second game. I am actually pretty impressed with our hitting in this series so far. These 2 pitchers we faced are supposedly 2 of the best in the country and neither one give up very many hits or runs.

The Shox played typical Shocker Baseball v.2011 on Friday.
Great starting pitching by Kelley in game 1. He kept the Duck hitters off balance all day. Nice close-out by Muncrief. The Shox had baserunners all over the place, but couldn't buy a clutch hit. Oregon snagged at least three or four RBI hits with incredible defensive plays. The Shox hit the ball hard, but couldn't get it past their defense.
Game 2 was a bit dicey. Both teams had plenty of baserunners and either could have broken the game open early. There were a couple guys who had RISP chances multiple times that weren't able to produce. The quick hook on Smith worked in the Shox favor and once again the bullpen pitched well. Oregon's bullpen is the poorest facet of their game and the Shox finally cashed in. Elam was just good enough to preserve the win.
The weather was terrible. The game started under sunny skies but that didn't last long. Off and on drizzle or light rain and a cold wind made it kinda hard to find a place to even get comfortable. By games end, my 5 layers weren't keeping me warm any more. Oregon's stadium is very similar to the original configuration of the Arkansas stadium and maybe 1/3 of the seats are under cover. The concourse is at the top, so the wind blasts you when you're up high. The field is completely Field Turf, like the Eck. Nice digs, in a picturesque setting. The baseball stadium shares parking with the football stadium and Nike $$$ is in evidence everywhere.
Forecast today for 90% showers and t-storms, Sunday 100% showers and t-storms. I guess we'll probably just have to hope for a few long enough breaks to play.

You won't win many games against a team as good as Oregon when you give up 13 free passes (11 walks and 2 HBP). However, other than that the Shocks were stingy giving up only the 6 hits and playing error free ball. Chance Sossamon was especially good with 4 innings of scoreles, 1-hit relief work.
Shocks probably should have won Game 1 and Oregon probably should have won Game 2, so each team ended up stealing one and the teams probably both ended up with what they deserved although in a strange way.
Considering the quality of the pitching the Shocks faced Friday I think they did a very nice job at the plate. I thought we were toast in Game 2 after falling behind 4-0 against a guy who came in with a 1.21 ERA and an oppenent's BA of 0.177 in his previous 5 appearances.
We battled an even better pitcher in Game 1 but just could not find the key hit in that Game.
