  • I thought Hege pissed all over the ball he hit...a true no doubter! I have seen him hit tape measure shots. I''m not certain he always believes how good he can be. He is so rough on himself, sometimes it gets in the way of his performance.

The ball Coughenour hit I wasn't sure of, but it likely traveled longer than Hege's did! IMHO Tyler got all of it. Not sure if he is the answer at 3rd base but what a great local kid who has room to improve!

I would like to think so and truly want these guys back, but we would also see less time in Coughenour and Hege and they played solid roles this series didn't they?

Actually, this may be a good thing for the future of this team.
Throughout the years, young guys get their ops due to guys in front of them getting knocked out of the line-up. All these guys are recruited by other good programs besides WSU and they are good ballplayers.

Thus far, the production of the "replacements" has been mostly pretty darn good. The best possible scenario is that Bayliff and Harbutz have to play their way back into the line-up. Fact of the matter is, there may be other injuries that will make room for them if/when they return. There are a lot of games on the schedule.

The best part of all this is that the Shox get more guys with significant game experience and become available for situational work as pinch-hitters or defensive replacements.

BTW, I'm not so sure Bayliff will be back this season.

      • This makes me happy.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

          • It was a long day on the hill and there's smiles all 'round.

The Shox were the best team on the field today. There was some emotion in the home dugout and it felt somewhat like the old days.

What a treat having two of the new guys go yard today. Hege's shot was a real blast. Coughenour's was very high and might have been helped a little by the wind. I think it would have gone on a calm day.

The trend I'm really liking is the relievers getting the job done so far. No one out of the guys getting the most action has gotten torched. Everyone is putting the ball over the plate and making opposing hitters earn everything. Flynn has been a little up-and-down, but he has such great stuff I don't think I'm worried.

Looking forward to the weekend games, more nice weather and girls in shorts. ;)

            • This had to be the best combined day for baseball-basketball in ages. Such a great time.

The nicest thing about the baseball game for me was that we looked like the better team. Yesterday, you got the feeling we were lucky to steal that one. Today, we looked so much more confident and in control. Let's hope the mo carries over to the weekend.

              • It was a totally awesome day! I couldn't make it to the baseball game until the fourth inning but I got to see a great game and I was able to listen to the first 3 innings on the radio on my way to the yard.

I also made it to the basketball game. I have no voice again (two nights in a row).

A great Shocker double header and beautiful weather on top of it. What more can you ask for?

I am absolutely sure Garrett won't be back. He fractured his leg and dislocated his ankle. He'll be in a walking boot for at least another 2 months. I just hope he'll be back to normal when he heals.
