Shocks, batting as the home team, put up a small-ball run in the 4th to go up 7-2.

Grimes walked after being down 0-2 in the count, stole second, moved to 3rd on a grounder to 2nd by Springer and scored on a Sac Fly by Coy.

Another small-ball run for the Shocks in the 5th.

Don Lambert walked with two-outs, stole second, went to third when the throw from the UNO catcher sailed into center and then stole home on the toss back of a pitch from the UNO catcher to the UNO pitcher.

        8-2 Shocks.

Wow, how do you do that? Did the toss get away from the pitcher, or did he break when the pitcher turned his back?

Anybody know what happened to Harbutz? He started at 3B, made an error, and then Parker pinch hit for him in the bottom of the first.

(It's both. I agree "Donnie Baseball" is more accurate -- but there are tons of media references to Mattingly as "Donnie Ballgame," too, which is a nod to Ted Williams' moniker "Teddy Ballgame.")

Shane didn't really give a real detailed description of what happened but it sounded like Donnie must have noticed they were ignoring him and anticipated the toss back to the pitcher. The toss did not get away from the pitcher.

Didn't Carl Hall do that in a game once? The catcher was lobbing the ball back to the pitcher and Carl stole the base. Can't remember if it was home or second but I think it was a road Valley game.

                        Coy doubles in Graimes.

Ring the bell, baby. COB goes yard.

                        3 run 8th

                        11-2 Shox

Now that's the Chris O'Brien we've been waiting for.

Sounds good but UNO is nowhere close to the team that visited Eck Stadium a few years back in regional play.

UNO is 1-7 coming in to this game. In those 7 losses they gave up an average of 14.9 runs per game including a 25-2 thrashing at the hands of Dallas-Baptist yesterday.

Still, much better than what the Shocks did yesterday, but not anything to get real excited about.

Dallas-Baptist (which will be in the MVC for baseball next year) should be a good test tomorrow.

Harbutz was hit in the shoulder with a linedrive in the first inning.
