  • HR's Down Nationally 35% First Three Games of Season

Baseball America states that homeruns are down about 35% as a percentage of balls in play in the first three games of the season compared to 2009 and 2010.

That 35% reduction is in the ballpark of what some batting coaches have been predicting based on their practice experiences.

We only had one here in Fayetteville over the weekend, in the 8th inning on Sunday, hit into the bullpen.

I ended up not being able to get out to any games this past weekend. How different do the bats sound?

More like a composite softball bat, still get a little ping if hit in the right/wrong spot

Thank you. I need to get back in the swing of things now that it's baseball season.

Very hard to tell from the Shocker games so far.

Well, Shocker opponents are averaging .75 runs a game. :)

James Madison scored 91 runs and hit 23 homers while sweeping Bucknell this weekend. That sort of production is not typical so that affected the overall numbers a bit.

That's an amazing number....Bucknell pitching must really serve it up.
