I have a question...why is Louisville (Big East) considered a mid major while UConn (also BE) is not?

I dunno. Why don't you ask the guy who makes the poll?

Just to get the season off to a flying start.....

How about a poll of just programs that have won the CWS?

I was thinking the same thing Doc. It's freaking February and we already have to put up with this shat already.

Can we also provide little facts to the poll, like when's the first time certain schools actually leave their state to play a game.

            ... No really, deuces.

Thanks...it was educational once I researched the term "mid-major"...I didn't know.

About a dozen or so mid majors have the ultimate prize sitting in their trophy cases. Lots of big bad conference teams' cases continue to sit empty. Call us whatever you want, obsess over us as often as you like. The fact of the matter is we have the hardware and you don't. Simple as that.

Heck...don't be defensive about a term.

The Big Ten hasn't had a team in the CWS since 1986, BCS or not.

Being in one kind of a conference or another doesn't mean that you aren't a talented program...Cal State Fullerton is usually such an example as is TCU and Wichita State.

Some places play good baseball....some places rarely do. The Big East and Big Ten are not very competitive in baseball (outside of maybe UConn).

You do realize Fullerton is in the same conference as Long Beach and Irvine, right?

Yep...my point is that the term "mid major" has little meaning in baseball..in terms of quality.

Some teams and some conferences have good quality baseball and some do not...but whether they are "BCS" conferences are not has little real independent meaning.

In fact...I am still trying to learn what the term "midmajor" really does mean in baseball.

Geez Fever, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? True we have a trophy that FSU doesn't have, but who do you think has a better chance in today's era of college baseball of getting to the CWS and winning the whole damn thing? It ain't the Shox.

Bud is right when it comes to mid-majors in baseball. Of all the major college sports, mids are least effected by the label in this sport. That may change, but with only 11 or so scholarships per team and the draft, BCS programs can't swallow up all the high level D1 baseball talent like they do in basketball and baseball.

Keep sharing your input with us Billy.
