  • WSU v. Niagara Game 3

Another fun, comfortable win. 12 IP with 1 ER from the bullpen makes for a very nice weekend, regardless of the quality of opponent. I love seeing O'B step up early- we need him to have a big season.

On to Oral Roberts on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles, btw, have split their first two at Baylor and are tied 1-1 in the 5th inning of the rubber match. They appear to be much better than last season's 137 RPI.

The only thing I have to say is, "What about that amazing play by Walder Davidson?" Un-frickin-believable.

Baylor scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th to tie today's game at 4-4 then won it with a run in the bottom of the 10th.

Looks like we will get an early test of our mid-week pitching. ORU was very competitive with #16 Baylor on the road.

Let's hope this is the year where we turn the tables on ORU. I'm real sick of them owning us the past decade.

Who takes the mound against ORU?

+ 1 :good: Incredible. Baez's glove would have made it within about 2 feet and that's about it.

Finally made it out today. Very nice day out minus the wind. Offense looks pretty solid. Pitching was superb and defense was outstanding. I don't care who the opponent is, the pitching and defense was there. I hope our offense is there as we up the competition on Tuesday.

All in all, a great start to the season. Keep it going.

Defense is really, really good. Solid pitching and guys that can place the ball with the bat.

Great game and great weekend of baseball.

I am very happy with this start. The defense really impressed me.

The pitching was great and so was the hitting too, but the defense looked very sharp.

I don't think I ever remember seeing such sharp defense during the first 3 games of the year.

Thanks for the link. WD talked about the double and the squeeze play, no mention of his spectacular defense.

It was the first time I have seen the Shockers use the squeeze play in longer than I can remember.

It was awesome. He reminded me of PJ Forbes.

It was a totally awesome weekend for baseball. The weather was perfect for February, the team hit well, pitched well, and played absolutely great defense.

A great start to the season.

Great showing by Shocker fans this weekend as well. Announced attendance topped 3,000 for all three games, and Friday's crowd was really great for a 2PM start. Temps around 70F for a mid-February weekend opener were a real bonus. It took a month and 12 home games last season to notch a 3rd game over 3,000 attendance. Nicely done, Shocker fans!

All the games moved along at a breakneck pace. I don't know if the timer had much to do with that as both teams really went about their business without wasting any time. I personally LOVE 2:00-2:30 baseball games. It usually means a well-played game without a bunch of goofy stuff like errors and excessive BB.

When we get into the heart of the schedule and the 6:30PM starts, getting home by 9:00-9:30PM will be nice.

Let's bring one back from Tulsa on Tuesday.
