  • Tech at the Eck

So I noticed 4 new cameras at the Eck. There is one on the new Batter's Eye, one on each dugout, and one right behind the batter. (That one is annoying as hell. I'll get used to it but if I had seats where that was in my way I would be raising hell.)

I noticed that there is quite the tech setup going on down low as well.

Some people speculated that they were cameras for internet streaming.

I figured they were cameras for doing hitting analysis.

    Anyone know fo sho?

They are not for Internet streaming.
"If you're going to do it, you're going to do it right," athletic director Jim Schaus said. "If we're going to put 'Wichita State' across our chest, then every team is going to matter."

WSU batters can look at their previous at bat to make adjustments.

They are videoing each at bat and charting each pitch. Software allows for every stat imaginable and allows coaches/hitters/pitchers to review every pitch.

Pretty neat set up but also very labor intensive for the operator.

Is this technology avaliable to them during the game or just after for review? If it is avaliable during the game wouldn't they be required to have access to it for both teams?

I got the impression that it would be used after games. Pretty sure it is not available for in game analysis.

I think it is basically a cleaner version of the old procedure of having players man video cameras during the game for analysis after the game. Now they will be able to tie the at bat to the pitch type, count and location.

There is much I don't know about the system and I could be wrong on some points but I believe this is the basic overview.

                  Ed,

Judging by the tech I can see I think it is way more complex.

I am curious if it also recording pitching mechanics
