"...NCAA Division I baseball programs divide 11.7 full scholarships among rosters of players numbering in the 30s. Softball programs divvy up 12 scholarships, and other non-revenue sports contend with similar roster management concerns.

Many of those Louisiana programs are still able to thrive, in large part because of the existence of the TOPS (Taylor Opportunity Program for Students) scholarship initiative. Because it offers free tuition and, in some cases, spending money to in-state students who meet certain academic standards, TOPS creates a clear competitive advantage..."

Not that funding is going to be expanded any time soon, but wouldn't it be nice (from a competitive standpoint, that is) if state universities in Kansas had access to a comparable initiative?
I think having the TOPS program in other states is a great idea, unfortunately, LSU ended that program last week because of the ongoing budget crisis. The state was paying for at least a part of this program and can no longer afford to pay for it.

Can't you feel the Bern. President Sanders will take care of that not to mention all your other wants and maybe even some of your needs.

It's all Brownback's fault. He was secretly working for Cheney at Halliburton, they had a no bid contact thanks to Bush, which was funneling money to a bunch of Jack Mormons. Then the ebola became a chronic problem in the US and Cliven Bundy was illegally feeding cattle provided to him for free by the Koch brothers. Fox News lied about the whole ordeal and the richest 1% stole from everybody else. Eventually, oil prices fell, but not before fracking destroyed the planet and Ted Cruz raped a sheep. This is exactly why we need to support Bernie and why LSU isn't going to be free anymore.

        Thanks, Brownback.

I certainly do. He contributes much more to the board than some.

Are you here to hijack this thread? Seems like it. If you don't have something to contribute directly to the subject, perhaps you need to move on.

But if you do have something to add about this subject, I'd like to read what you have to say. Shock, for example, provided me with some excellent analysis that the NEA put together about the state of education in the United States. It was very eye-opening, had some great insights and taught me some things about the state of funding for schools in Kansas (which was very positive).

I seriously want to wager on the LSU playing SEC football this year. I will wager $1,000 against $50. I say LSU WILL play football this year. Anyone that belives that LSU won't play football this year, that is 20-1 odds. You can't beat that in Vegas!

And if you can somehow convince 20,000 people to take that bet, you'll be a millionaire. Heck of a deal if you can get it.

So, no takers? I bet Jindal wod bet me. He caused the drop in oil prices that caused the whole Texas economic problem, which has caused the outsourcing of jobs and corporate greed. That greed manifested itself in a framework put in place by the Koch brothers to break up the unions and pollute drinking water. All of which is related to the tea party and their quest to steal from the poor. This will result in miscarriages and genocide, all because of deregulation.

So, you don't think that LSU football is threatened? That's sort of the title of the thread.
