Ex-NBA/UK player Rex Chapman accused of shoplifting

Former NBA guard Rex Chapman has been arrested for allegedly shoplifting $14,000 worth of merchandise from an Apple store in Scottsdale and then selling the items at a pawn shop.

One almost needs to wonder just what he had gotten himself into. He's always had steady work since playing in the NBA.

It sounds like he doesn't have any respect for the law.

The last paragraph in this Phoenix New Times article says,

Chapman has other legal problems, too. Scottsdale court records show a criminal warrant had been issued for his arrest in June due to his failure to appear in court on numerous traffic violations.

The paragraph before that mentioned that he was a thoroughbred enthusiast. I wonder if he had gambling issues. Did he blow all that money he made while in the NBA (over $20M before taxes)?

They really need to have remedial classes on how to manage money. Of course having an entourage and women and jewelry then mixing in gambling and booze and or drugs a buck just doesn't last as long as it used to.
