  • UH Cougars - transfer request

Interesting discussion on sports talk this morning in Houston about 2 players being denied their release. The school's 2 best players, Danuel House (6'7" soph, 13.6 pts/game) and Tashawn Thomas (6'8", 15 pts & 8 boards) were denied transfer request by incoming coach Kelvin Sampson while he granted the request of little used point guard Jaaron Simmons.....

Another interesting tidbit about Jaaron Simmons, per his bio, from Dayton, OH and "chose Houston over Wichita State, Butler, Xavier, Dayton, Southern Miss, UCF and Tulane"

Page Not Found (404): It looks like you're lost... The page you are looking for no longer exists.

Isn't it great to have that dickhead Kelvin Sampson back in college basketball...?

Figures. Sampson makes most other coaches look like a huge step-up in the cedibility department. Takes a pretty small minded person to deny a transfer to a player. I hope hiring that scumbag comes back to haunt UH. They deserve it.
"Hank Iba decided he wouldn't play my team anymore. He told me that if he tried to get his team ready to play me, it would upset his team the rest of the season." Gene Johnson, WU Basketball coach, 1928-1933.

It is my understanding that he is simply denying the request until he gets the opportunity to discuss his plans with them.

If that discussion has taken place, and they still want to transfer and he Denys it, then I would jump on the scumbag train.

You may recall the day Marshall was hired, our AD stated that we would not release our recruits. But, of course we did later. That is almost always the case.

Thomas, who led the Cougars in scoring (15.4) and rebounding (8.1) this season, said hemet with Sampson on a few occasions before deciding to transfer.

"I feel like they should respect that I'm trying to explore different options," Thomas, a second-team American Athletic Conference selection, told KRIV-TV. "I'm kind of nervous about the whole new situation with the coach."
Sounds like he talked to Sampson and now he's uneasy about him.

House, a highly recruited prospect from Fort Bend Hightower, said he had his "mind made up before the end of the season."

"Honestly, I know I want to leave UH," House said Thursday night.

At issue is the granting of a transfer request to reserve point guard Jaaron Simmons, who left the program last week.

"They let transfers come in, they let one of my teammates get his release without any process or denial," said House, who averaged 13.6 points this season and was Conference USA's Freshman of the Year in 2013. "But when I asked for mine they denied my request. I felt that was unfair. Our university always speaks highly of integrity but they didn't show any integrity to me. It's like a hostage situation."
Doesn't sound like someone who might stay. Also, making those comments to the press, is this really someone you want on your team?

House is a big time player. Ranked around #15 coming out of high school.
