Name sounds very familiar. He was associated with WSU in some form and fashion, right?

He was at WSU in the 80's, an SID and then marketing associate AD.

Totally agree. So what's the implication of Weiberg coming back to Wichita? Where does he fit into the picture?

No implication. I just thought it was interesting, considering his history at WSU and his experience as a conference commissioner. Maybe he secured a position at Koch.

Hmmm. Big 12 experience? Check. Big 10 experience? Check. Pac-10 experience? Check. He sure would make a heckuva consultant on a gig like that wouldn't he?

                      Edit: pac-12 sheesh

I will be the first to admit I know NOTHING about conference affiliation and what it takes, but what are the chances of a new conference forming (or is that just another stupid thought that hit my brain)?

The apprehension schools have with forming a new conference is that the conference would not have an auto-bid for a certain number of years.

I don't know how the AAC got exempted from that rule, unless it's because the Big East left them behind, making it beyond their control.
