ACC Job Opening - VT Fires Greenburg

Here's what ESPN Rumor's has to say:
"Earlier today, it was announced Virginia Tech athletic director Jim Weaver would host an impromptu press conference. At the time, there was a flicker of shock: would coach Seth Greenberg be fired? Even though Greenberg maintained he was still employed, there was still uncertainty at the randomness of the presser. However, fast-forward a few hours and it is revealed that Greenberg will not be head coach at Virginia Tech next season. While the reasons for the coaching change are still being formulated, it probably didn't help Greenberg that six members of his staff have left over the course of the past four years (three assistants left just this offseason).
"So who are some potential replacements? We have to wonder whether a few ACC assistants will be in play for the opening. Names like Jeff Capel and Chris Collins could draw consideration; Collins was reportedly interested in the Illinois opening, and based on how often his name has been mentioned the past few months, it stands to reason Collins is interested in making a move. For Capel, a move to the state where he was a head and assistant coach for six years (at ODU and VCU) does make sense. Another option could be Scott Spinelli. The Maryland assistant has strong connections on the east coast (and to the Northeast prep scene), and would merit some attention.
"Another name to consider? Eric Skeeters. A former Virginia Tech assistant, Skeeters has long-standing ties to the Baltimore-area, and would be a popular name recruiting-wise in the region. Similarly, we wonder if Rutgers' David Cox would get a call. Cox was an assistant at Georgetown (now associate head coach at Rutgers), and has long been known for his recruiting prowess in the DMV region. When Cox was given the title
of associate head coach, we assumed it was only a matter of time before he became a DI head coach, and a move to VaTech is logical.
"He has been a popular name to mention in regards to coaching searches the past few seasons, but American's Jeff Jones would be a solid choice. Jones has turned AU into one of the nation's top non-BCS conference programs, and though he recently signed an extension through 2016, Jones could be a candidate. Another option is Notre Dame's Anthony Solomon. A native of Virginia, Solomon has long been an assistant to Mike Brey, and was the MVP at the inaugural Boo Williams Summer League.
"One final name to bring up: Shaka Smart. Norwood Teague, the athletic director who, due to his sound judgement in coaching searches, helped propel VCU to the top of the non-BCS conference pyramid, is now AD at Minnesota. Smart has turned down Maryland (in 2011) and Illinois (during this current offseason) but would he listen to a call from the Hokies? The Hokies do have a very strong returning squad in 2013. Dorian Finney-Smith has the makings to be an all-ACC competitor, and the incoming class is highly-ranked. However, of course Smart would be on any AD's wish list, and as some have pointed out, there is little chance Smart makes the move to Blacksburg.

I GIVE UP!!! I checked the "Around the NCAA" forum before I started this thread. I found nothing about it so went ahead. And lo and behold what do I find, a new thread in the Basketball Forum on this same subject. As I said I give up trying to figure out where to post anything on this board. Feel free to delete this thread.

Why would Smart go to VT over the far better programs he has previously turned down? So damn lazy. Just throw the hot name out for every job that comes up.Originally posted by BleacherReportFred VanVleet on Shockers' 3-Pt Shooting Confidence -- ' Honestly, I just tell these guys to let their nuts hang.'
