Probably not -- LSU is not a good basketball job.

He was a lame duck entering next year and got out while he could still save some face.

I lived in Baton Rouge once upon a time, long, long ago.

It is best, if the new coach can relate well to the societal culture.

It is not a job for just any old joe. As an example, a coach like Coach Altman would never fit in.

I live in Baton Rouge now. Marshall being mentioned, but no one truly thinks they even waste time with an offer to him, Smart, or Stevens.

Names mentioned frequently are Scott Drew at Baylor who has strong ties to LSU and North Texas coach Johnny Jones.

Drew would be taking a step down, Jones a step up. If those are really the guys, that seems pretty easy unless Christmas comes way early for the LSU athletic department.

I believe coach altman still has all of his own teeth and doesn't hunt gators.

Kind of like he did not fit in at Arkansas? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeUZFagfR80

Sorry, but I don't know of many men (or women for that matter) that would feel comfortable with that hog call unless you were born and bred to it.

Marshall mentioned but as unrealistic. I like that.

Kind of wonder if John Cooper would have gotten a look if he didn't take the Miami-Ohio job.

Is it just me or does this seem like an eerily similar scenario to the Turgeon to aTm scenario?

You talking about getting the hell outta dodge before $hit hits the fan the next year, and he can't get a job at Bethune cookman?

Plus he never fit in with the culture and he never demonstrated that he was interested in fitting in with the culture.

The only universities, which have honored customs and traditions like A&M, are the service academies. I may be a little strong in the previous comment. Institutions like the Citadel should be included.
