Not to make anyone mad, but I did some research as to why wsu fans like the term chickenhawk... It's actually not even a word that is used out of sheer hatred I don't think.. I was researching the 1981 Battle of New Orleans between WSU and KU the other day though and learned that game, in 1981, was the first ever time KU met WSU in basketball since 1955 when Wichita Field House, which is now Koch Arena as we all know it, was opened. That's a pretty long drought, 1955 to 1981, which 81' was not even a scheduled game. I'm glad I did that research though... So at least now I know what the term chickenhawk actually means to wsu fans. The series is obviously in another drought 1993?-Present, but that doesn't mean it will never flare up again. I'd sure like to know why KU ignores WSU though... This has been going on since before RPI or the NCAA tournament even mattered apparently. And these days, it's not just WSU that they ignore, it's IBA as well. Something about this area has KU spooked. Interesting..
