  • DoJ Approves Merger of Disney and Fox

KWCH is (incorrectly) reporting that Disney has to sell its' 22 regional sports channels. The actual ruling is that Fox will have to sell its' regional sports channels.

That means that Fox Sports Midwest, Fox Sports KC, etc. will be sold. This could impact blackouts on ESPN3, the ability to watch basketball from mid-majors (MVC gets a lot of games on Fox regional channels). It doesn't seem like it will have much effect on ESPN and their packages, such as The Longhorn Network.

The Walt Disney Co. said that the antitrust division of the U.S. Dept. of Justice has cleared the proposed acquisition by Disney of assets owned by 21 Century Fox.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

It should be a win for sports fans (depending on who buys them). Disney priority was to get fox movie library and IP to solidify their streaming service they are about to launch.

I guess we we will see if Comcast has one more bid in them for Fox.
