And this is with every single school increasing their allotment. How much does the Valley lose just from us not being at Arch Madness. $400k? Yikes.

Trying to sell that turd sandwich as "fine" is exactly why WSU is gone to begin with.

Valley commissioner Doug Elgin used the words “addition by subtraction,”

      LOL

The level of delusion is palpable.

I have no problem towing the company line. But "addition by subtraction" is idiotic, petty and frankly embarrassing for Doug, whom I like, and the entire conference. Somebody should tell him so.

It hurt Arch Madness & MVC league play competitiveness when Creighton departed and it killed it when WSU departed. Both of these schools were perennials of both and failing to acknowledge the “new reality” is delusional. As someone said in the Valley Thoughts thread, it won’t be long until Arch Madness is no longer Arch Madness because it is collocated with the Ladies tourney.

so much for the people will flock to open tournament. 8,056 for the championship game. Down from 11,744 last year. Overall attendance was down -26% from 2017 and -30% from 2016.

With all Illinois schools in the semis and final and so much balance among all the schools, can one really expect more attendance than what they had this year?

I'm sure it didn't help that it was Loyola and their 50 fans in the final.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

I assumed all of Chicago drove down to see the game.

Oh, Gregg. This kind of behavior was on display at #ArchMadness for a long time. Now more eyes on him. Nothing's changed.

Looks like ScottTrade Center has to host the MVC championship through 2020. Will be interesting to see how attendance goes in the next two years pending on who is the best team in the Valley for those years.
