Navy scored two 4th quarter touchdowns to rally for a 22-21 win over Memphis. Memphis had put up 66 points on Mercer last week and Navy gave up 59 to Hawaii.

Temple goes on the road and enjoys some turtle soup with a 35-14 beatdown of Maryland.

That's pretty impressive on the road. The Terps beat Texas in the 1st week and Temple lost at home to Villanova and Buffalo.

This TTU Houston game could be a pretty good shoot out.

Houston could not quite keep pace with Texas Tech losing 63-49. I think Houston may have lost this game late in the 1st half. Houston had the ball in good field position with time to drive for a score. But one of their receivers dropped 2 passes on a possession and they were forced to punt. Texas Tech drove down the field and scored with 3 seconds left. Had Houston controlled the ball and scored at the end of the half they would have led 42-35 at half instead of trailing 35-42. Also, Houston opened the 2nd half with a scoring drive so had they been able to close out the 1st half they would have been up 49-35. Maybe they still lose the game. Maybe not. But it was no doubt a big swing in Tech's favor.

South Florida picks up road win #2 on the day over the Big 10 with a 25-19 win at Illinois.

I know thw Shox don't have a dog in the fight (except our pseudo team Navy), but it's good to see some American teams having success in football.

Watching the Lockheed Martin Armed Services Bowl on ESPN-U pitting Army against Houston of the AAC. This is apparently a replay of a game that was played on Saturday. In any case, Army it totally dominating demolishing Houston. 42-7 at the half now and looks like it ended up 70-14.

Army racked up 507 yards rushing and scored 8 rushing touchdowns. Army completed all 4 of its pass attempts for 85 yards and 1 touchdown although their longest pass play of 54 yards ended up 1 yard short of a TD. The other TD was scored by the Army D on a fumble return after a strip sack of the Houston QB

Apparently, Houston was not very interested in being at this game. Army, on the other hand, came to play some old time smash mouth football.

After looking at the Houston board it sounds like their season was derailed by injuries and coaching defections. They played a true freshmane at QB in this game who they had planeed on redshirting and apparently their D-line has suffered a lot of injuries. Still you don't expect a 70-14 loss to Army. Hard to be believe Major Applewhite will survive as head coach after this showing.

AAC goes 2-5 in the Orange Bowl. Houston apparently has a lot of issue. Cincy with the best win over Virginia Tech. UCF was very competitive with LSU but came up a little short.
