  • Login Reset

In the last 2-4 weeks I have noticed a new oddity.

If you stay logged in and idle for too long, eventually when you refresh you will either A)have to log back in or B) the "new posts" number will have reset.

Ok, no big deal, it's been like that forever.

But now, seemingly without any consistency, the "new posts" number resets without warning, sometimes when I haven't been idle at all, or at least not more than a minute or 2.

It may also be triggered by making a new post (as happened just a few minutes ago) or sending a PM. It hasn't occurred often enough to create a baseline, but no doubt it's a new phenomenon.

Possibly related, when I am on a computer where I don't have the auto sign in turned on, sometimes I will get kicked off (as described above) and then not be able to sign back in. It's as if I enter the wrong log in info but with no warning. New posts will be reset in these instances as well.

    Anyone else notice this?

I notice it redirecting me to the home page when I click on add reply.

I have noticed the occasional quirk, too, but it is never consistent enough to get a bead on the problem. If you do have a problem, please be as specific as possible, and include what OS (Windows or Mac most likely, along with the version) you are running and what browser you are using.

I would like to upgrade the board software to the newest version, but I won't even dream of doing that until summer when things are the quietest.

Everytime I first go to the forums in the morning I will click on add reply and It will redirect me to the Home page.

I am logged in 100% of the time and even when it redirects me to the home page it shows me as being logged in. It really is NOT a big deal to me, but I want to just let you know.

I am running Google Chrome 5.0.375.70 on Mac OS X 10.6.3.

I don't auto log in but I have had the same problem as wsushox has had for probably the better part of a year or two now. Every once in a while, after I have either signed in or remained idle for a few, I'll click add reply and I will get redirected back to the home page. It was very bothersome at first and quite annoying but I've actually kinda got used to it now (still annoying though.. :D ) I'm running the latest Firefox version on Windows Vista.

OK, all, I've tweaked a couple of things to see if I can clear up the login problems. You will need to clear the cache in your browser first (usually in an Options or Preferences menu) and then try it out. Please let me know one way or the other as to whether the tweak was effective. Thanks!

Any feedback on the tweaks? Is logging in working more cleanly for everyone?

                  I've been smooth as well.

Looks like whatever you did, worked.

                  Mucho gracias! :good:
