    Donations

ShockerNet has now set up a PayPal account that anyone can donate to if they want to. Recently a few members have asked how they can help the forum out financially, and I didn't have anyway for them to do that. I just set up a PayPal account for ShockerNet so members can donate money to help offset costs already incurred, as well as pool money together to purchase new plugins and upgrades for the site. Even just $1 will help for some of the smaller upgrades. You don't have to be a registered member to donate, either. If you simply view the site and don't post, but enjoy reading the opinions of the posters, and would like to give a donation, you're more than welcome to.

    • By donating, you're doing it to help support the cost of providing servers, domains, forum software, and additional plugins.
    • You won't be receiving any extra benefits over someone who chooses not to donate.
    • This "donation" is not tax-deductible. ShockerNet is not a non-profit, and is not associated with Wichita State University, or SASO.
    • By giving money, it helps to provide a pool of funds to buy plugins or other upgrades that do are not free.
    • You must be 18 years of age, or have the consent of your guardian/parent to donate.
I want to assure all the members that ShockerNet will never, under my ownership, be a pay to view site. The donation is simply a way to help support the website, while retaining ads on the site to a minimum. I appreciate all of your donations to the cause.

I'd like to use this thread as a place to generate ideas on possible features that members would like to see implemented on the site. Vbulletin.org has tons of plugins to view. Something to keep in mind if you have a specific plug in you'd like to see, that it needs to be compatible with 4.1 version of VB. General ideas for features are also wanted.

Done. I enjoy Shockernet, and the fact that it rarely has issues. But we all remember what it is like when it goes down. Gladly pay a little to make sure we continue to have such a fantastic board (without having to be a BJC craptastic pay to view place)

Is it possible to view vids in-thread?

And mobile is nice, but I would like an app because I am lazy. Is there a vbulletin app that is shockernet compatible?

Yes you can view vids in thread, you simply have to use the [video] tag just like you'd use the [img] tags, except wrap a youtube link with the [video] tag.

There is an app called Tapatalk that I can see about setting up, but it costs money. And when I mean it costs money, it costs the user money to buy the actual app. I guess I could always set it up, and just keep it an option for members who don't mind paying for the app.

Yeah that is sort of my opinion on Tapatalk. I installed it on one of my other forums I ran, and I wasn't all that impressed with it.

              Bump.

Ladies and Gents, it is that time of the year again when usage is at its highest.

Many of us dont realize how much we use and enjoy SN until it is down.

Please take a moment and donate if you can. Obviously not everyone can, and donations are not posted, so any amount helps.

Lets help keep SN on the tip of the sword.

Just a reminder that donations are extremely appreciated, as I pay for the server costs which are about $110 a month for the amount of bandwidth we use. I figured I'd drop a line on what will be one of the busiest days on the message board.

I just checked the yearly stats for ShockerNet from 1/1/13 to 12/31/13 and ShockerNet had 8,365,156 pageviews for the year to give you an idea of what type of stress we put on the server.
