CBS News Lara Logan sexually assaulted.

    (CBSNews)

On Friday, Feb. 11, the day Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS chief foreign correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a "60 Minutes" story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.

In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering.
Just heard about that this morning. Sadly, it doesn't surprise me that there would be an element amongst the crowd that would do such a despicable thing. I'm just glad she didn't get any worse.

Egypt has been back in the news lately. Sounds like the military is ready to side with the people and clear the Muslim Brotherhood out of power. They're also stating that they won't take over and want to appoint the Chief Justice as the leader until things can be situated. Millions have been protesting all over Egypt as they're unhappy with the rule of Morsi. I've also seen a number of signs and quotes that the people are pretty pissed at Obama for backing this guy and helping to put him in power. Morsi and his supporters say it'll take bloodshed to get them to leave power and it appears the military is ready to oblige.

We're borrowing money we don't have, to the detriment of the American economy to send to people that hate us.

Our State Dept acts like helicopter parents, throwing money at ungrateful children hoping that they'll love us.

Sen. Rand Paul asks: Why is the U.S. supporting Egyptian President Mohammed Morsy when his own people are against him?

Military reports that Morsi has been ousted and the chief justice of the constitutional court is the interim head of state.

                It's Bush's fault.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Hmmmmmm. Not a bad idea. Guess we couldn't really do it here in the good ol' USofA, that is until our the First Amendment Rights are abolished.

Not entirely true, I don't think. They were banned in Egypt for some 80 years as they were considered a terrorist group essentially. I don't think we'd have to worry about something quite like this in this country though, although there are some Dems who practically consider the Tea Party Republicans a terror group. Hell, maybe even some Republicans that do. I'm sure members of both parties wish they were banned from participating.

Explain what? Egypt barred the Brotherhood from participating because they're nutball extremists.

Dems have been describing the Tea Party as terrorists and anarchists from day one because they don't believe in full gov't control. Some Republican leaders have attacked the Tea Party because they actually believe in small gov't and are standing by their principles as opposed to the establishment Republicans that talk small gov't and then spend out their ass to grow gov't even more.

                            Haven't I missed something?

didn't understand "them participating", I guess. In what? I'm not a Tea Party member (does one become a member), but any kind of comparison between the muslim brotherhood and the tea party is .............I can't think of a word.

Tea Party is just what the small gov't conservatives in the Republican party are known as. Establishment Rs are pissed because they actually believe what they say and don't bow down to the liberal leadership in the party. So the Rs wish they weren't around. Dems think they're complete anti gov't types that will harm the country because they don't think the gov't should be spending like they do or be as involved as they are. So they WISH the Tea Party couldn't participate.

And no, the Tea Party shouldn't be mentioned with the Brotherhood, but that's the extreme some will go to in order to demonize them.
