Statism is a Religion

A study has come out, which apparently shows: "When faith in government decreases, belief in an all-powerful deity rises."

think that's the historically incorrect way of putting it. Because, historically, we (as mankind in general) have had a religious system for far longer than we have had organized governance, surely it should be presented as "When faith in a god/God/gods decreases, belief in all-powerful government rises."

Hmmmmm…..I scanned the articles and my initial reaction is the study is kind of silly.

I think the title of your thread is more accurate – all the various “isms” on the Left: Socialism, Communism, Fascism, Progressivism, Environmentalism, etc., really are stand-ins, for some people, for religion.

I may be off-base in stating this but I think it's generally accepted that humans have an inherent nature of needing to believe in something greater than themselves - a higher power. Many manifest that need with a belief in God, others a belief in government and a desire for them to act with a god-like authority.

Although narcissism/sociopathy may preempt that nature.
