In the wake of last month’s DHS memo on how to create a de facto amnesty without congressional consent comes a similar “draft” proposal instructing local police to stop enforcing immigration laws. As reported by my colleague Jessica Vaughan, “According to a draft policy document now being circulated among a limited group of stakeholders, ICE chief John Morton intends to prohibit not only his officers, but also local officers with 287(g) immigration authority, from busting illegal aliens who are discovered as a result of traffic violations.” So that means we’ll go back to the situation where illegal aliens can drive illegally with impunity, like the Ft. Dix plotters, who were stopped 75 times by local police for traffic violations and never turned over to immigration.

I heard an interview with a Coast Guard patrolman yesterday. ICE told them to cease handing illegal aliens off to them because they weren't going to take them. It was revealed that when ICE does decide to process an alien they typically run them through the court system to delay their deportation instead of using the quick administrative action they have at their disposal.
Also heard an interview with a rookie city cop who arrested the same man for drunk driving 3 times in three weeks. After being released the next morning for three straight Saturdays, the cop was fuming. He started to raise hell until a superior bluntly clued him in. It's an unwritten rule that illegal aliens should not be stopped because the Democrat judge will always let them go. They have to protect the voter base, he was told.
The cop resigned.

How's this for ya? DOJ Gave Millions to Illegal Immigrant 'Sanctuaries,' Report FindsThe Department of Justice has spent tens of millions of dollars this year to compensate more than two dozen states, counties and cities for their costs of jailing illegal immigrants -- even though those communities have adopted policies that obstruct immigration enforcement, according to a recently released report.
"Subsidizing Sanctuaries: The State Criminal Alien Assistance Program," a report from the Center for Immigration Studies, found that the federal grant program commonly known as SCAAP allocated $62.2 million -- more than 15 percent of its $400 million total -- to 27 jurisdictions that are widely considered to be "sanctuary communities.""Basically, the federal government is subsidizing through this grant program jurisdictions that on the one hand are complaining about the cost of illegal immigration and demanding reimbursement from the federal government, while at the same time they have policies in place that make their locality a magnet for illegal aliens," Vaughan told FoxNews.com.
"And that's just illogical," she said."In its lawsuit challenging the Arizona immigration law, the Obama administration claims that the law creates a patchwork of immigration enforcement," Miller's statement read. "If this is the case, then the Obama administration should also sue sanctuary cities, for their policies are arguably a 'patchwork' of immigration enforcement as well. It is time for the administration to end its double standard."
To that end, Miller has authored legislation -- the Loophole Elimination and Verification Enforcement Act, or LEAVE -- that would prohibit sanctuary communities from receiving both Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security funds.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

President Obama, Hispanic Caucus Members Talk Dream Act
President Obama met privately in the Oval Office Tuesday with leaders of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to discuss immigration reform, and aides say his hope that Congress will approve the DREAM Act during the lame duck session.
The legislation would give children of illegal immigrants an opportunity to earn their citizenship by working toward a college degree or military service.
Critics say it is the first step on the path toward amnesty, although the issue does have some bipartisan support.Representative Luis Gutierrez says he told the President he is "all-in" for the DREAM Act. "I told the President we need him now and that we cannot waste another day and must push for a DREAM Act vote in the House and Senate during the lame-duck," Gutierrez said in a written statement.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
