  • The Obsolescence of Barack Obama

Fouad Ajami, a brilliant Middle East scholar, has penned a masterpiece on Barack Obama for the Wall Street Journal. Here’s a portion of what Ajami writes:

It is in the nature of charisma that it rises out of thin air, out of need and distress, and then dissipates when the magic fails. The country has had its fill with a scapegoating that knows no end from a president who had vowed to break with recriminations and partisanship. The magic of 2008 can't be recreated, and good riddance to it. Slowly, the nation has recovered its poise. There is a widespread sense of unstated embarrassment that a political majority, if only for a moment, fell for the promise of an untested redeemer—a belief alien to the temperament of this so practical and sober a nation.
You should read the whole thing.

Why is it that people who are of a foreign orientation are more American-sounding than many liberal Americans?

    Ajami's take on Reagan:

"Big as Reagan’s mandate was, in two elections, the man was never bigger than his country. There was never narcissism or a bloated sense of personal destiny in him. He gloried in the country, and drew sustenance from its heroic deeds and its capacity for recovery. No political class rode with him to power anxious to lay its hands on the nation’s treasure, eager to supplant the forces of the market with its own economic preferences."
More on the Fall of Obama:

The vaunted Obama economic stimulus, at $862 billion, has failed. ... Mr. Obama could protest that his swift and sudden fall from grace is no fault of his. He had been a blank slate, and the devotees had projected onto him their hopes and dreams. His victory had not been the triumph of policies he had enunciated in great detail. He had never run anything in his entire life. He had a scant public record, but oddly this worked to his advantage. If he was going to begin the world anew, it was better that he knew little about the machinery of government."
In addition, an article from the UK Telegraph:

"The Obama Presidency Increasingly Resembles a Modern-Day Ancien Regime: Extravagant and Out of Touch with the American People." They actually use the word regime in the headline. "What the great French historian Alexis de Tocqueville would make of today’s Obama administration were he alive today is anyone’s guess. But I would wager that the author of L’Ancien Régime and Democracy in America would be less than impressed with the extravagance and arrogance on display among the White House elites that rule America as though they had been handed some divine right to govern with impunity. ... The timing of this lavish European vacation could not have come at a worse moment, when unemployment in America stands at 10 percent, and large numbers of Americans are fighting to survive financially in the wake of the global economic downturn.

"While the liberal-dominated US mainstream media have largely ignored the story, it is all over the blogosphere and talk radio, and will undoubtedly add to the President’s free falling poll ratings. As much as the media establishment turn a blind eye to," Michelle Obama's vacation, "and stories like this, which are major news in the international media, the American public is increasingly turning to alternative news sources, including the British press, which has a far less deferential approach towards the White House. The First Lady’s ill-conceived trip to Marbella and the complete disregard for public opinion and concerns over excessive government spending is symbolic of a far wider problem with the Obama presidency -- the overarching disdain for the principles of limited government, individual liberty and free enterprise that have built the United States over the course of nearly two and a half centuries into the most powerful and free nation on earth. ... The Obama administration’s mantra may well be 'let them eat cake', as it continues to gorge itself on taxpayers’ money, but it will be looking nervously over its shoulder as public unease mounts."

But he has no desire to do it. At least not in a way that would make most happy.

Yes, he has a great desire to reform immigration, but it's really only amnesty. Because, as Harry Reid said (paraphrasing) "I can't understand why any hispanic person would EVER be a Republican."

Nothing is going to happen to immigratioin reform before the midterm elections. And if it did, it would die in the Senate anyway.

His Majesty King Obama doesn't care about the midterms anyway. He won't let the voice of the people change His agenda. He is the King after all and He can do whatever He damn well pleases. We are His subjects and merely need to bask in His Gracious Benevolence.

In fact, He probably welcomes Republican control of the House and maybe the Senate. That sets Him up nicely for re-election in 2012 because He can not only blame Bush for all of His failures, He can then also blame all Republicans and other Racist Americans who stand in the way of His Almighty Transfiguration of this nation.

Immigration reform could get rammed through between the elections and the seating of the new Congress. Unless that kicks off the Tea Party Revolt of 2011, the King could add millions of previously-undocumented members to His Cult of Personality and will win re-coronation in 2012.

                      Maybe someday I will.

Will King Obama reveal His true feelings about Amerika on that day as well?
Will that be the day He releases His college papers so we can see what He has been hiding?
