  • WikiLeaks...

Haven't followed closely, but apparently the founder loves getting classified info he can use against the US as he pretty much considers our military evil. I may be over simplifying that but this stuff doesn't sit well with me. War sucks. We all know that. But what some people go out of their way to do....

If war crimes are being committed or the basis for war is a false pretense (U.S. citizens lied to), I have no problem with whistle-blowing.

Beyond that, leaking of classified material is troubling and dangerous, at best.

I have read alot of stuff on Wikileaks. Lot of interesting stuff there (most of it not classified), but some of it is embarrasing.

My take is this on the latest issues is this the Wikileaks guy has been facing financial issues and is trying to re-image his brand from general whistleblower (many foreign Governments are not happy with him) to U.S. Whistleblower to try and get more donations and support.

There has not been any knew information coming from his site for quite awhile except for these two instances:

      1. the release of the video showing "U.S. War Crimes" - well it wasn't. These were guys who were engaging U.S. soldiers and were trying to break off their attack and blend back into society. They got caught and blown away before they did it.

      2. Data dump of classified material - there was no real news here. Who doesn't really know that Pakistan Intelligence has been helping AQ? Or that AQ might be using Manpads to shoot down helicopters (anybody watch Charlie Wilson War?).

What is troubling is there are people in the military/country who are willing to do this and maybe next time he/she might release something that could be damaging to our security. So he has to be made an example of.

Me thinks this guy is going to have some Virginia farm boys knocking (or not knocking as it were) on his door in the near future.

If you hold a security clearance, you might want to stay away from Wikileaks.

Government tells it soldiers and civillian contractors:

[W]illingly accessing the WIKILEAKS website for the purpose of viewing the posted classified material [constitutes] the unauthorized processing, disclosure, viewing, and downloading of classified information onto an UNAUTHORIZED computer system not approved to store classified information. Meaning they have WILLINGLY committed a SECURITY VIOLATION.
So are they saying the Wikileaks servers are approved?

Isn't the wikileaks guy hiding in some undisclosed location out of country. Thats what NPR told me a couple weeks ago.

WikiLeaks Next Document Dump Losing Support
Even Reporters Without Borders, an organization that fights for international press freedom, sent Assange a letter saying it regrets the "incredible irresponsibility" shown by releasing the initial 77,000 secret war documents.

Clothilde Le Coz, a spokesman for Reporters with Borders, told Fox News on Friday "we supported WikiLeaks on many cases and on many things before, but this is going way too far and we can't support that."

I wonder if he has decided that it's an acceptable risk to lose his own life.

                              I'm sure somebody will.

When Reporters Without Borders turns on you, you might want to rethink some things. If this guy "disappears" I'm sure there won't be too many tears shed
