  • Kansas Elections

Man am I getting tired of watching Wink Hartman's ads on television. I know he has a lot of money but geez.....

Anyways just thought I would start a topic to see if anyone has anything to say on it.

The senate Primary race is really heating up. Tihart is boasting that he got endorsed by Sarah Palin....might help him, or it might not.

Either way there is no way a Dem will win the senate Race.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

No, but Raj Goyle scares the heck out of me in the Congressional race.

I could really post some personal things from his time as a basketball player that could be damaging to his candidacy.

    Hmmm.......

Goyle is sitting back licking his chops, sounding like a moderate in his TV ads, while the two main Republican candidates negatively campaign each other to shreds.

I'm sure being a lawyer for the ACLU will give his opponent in the general some fodder, but maybe Doc needs to spill the dirt.

Wink Hartman is spending his own money in this race (92% of his money spent is his own - $1,664,126 spent total)

Pompeo money is coming from individual contribution (96%) - $441,223 total spent.

I can't vote in the Republican primaries so I'll just wait until afterward before I start paying too much attention to these guys.

I've heard some bad things about Pompeo - mainly from people who have done business with him. I don't remember a primary being this ugly before.
"If you're going to do it, you're going to do it right," athletic director Jim Schaus said. "If we're going to put 'Wichita State' across our chest, then every team is going to matter."

I am voting for a total unknown because I don't trust either wink-at-me or pompass. Just don't know who that unknow will be.

Wink Hartman is no more a Kansan than Kirstie Alley. I'm sorry Wink having your pastor write in from FLORIDA saying your pro life does not make me want to vote for you more.....and Pompeo is bleh too. Hell I might end up voting for Jean as the Eagle Cartoon says.

What party does Goyle even belong to? I saw one of his ads, which didn't say. I went to his website and could not find it.

While I like candidates who don't tow the party line, I don't trust one who tries to hide his affiliation or lack of affiliation (ie, independent).

He is a Democrat, elected in one of the wealthiest districts in the state to the Kansas House.

I assume he doesn't mind taxing the living hell out of his parents, or anyone that sues his parents for malpractice (they are both doctors, and damned good ones too).

The thing I don't understand is that Raj is smarter than this. I think this is a prototypical example of a book smart kid that has been indoctrinated to the left and his extremely talented mind has run amok.

That being said, do NOT look past him. He will sell himself to some on the right and he IS brilliant, his goals are just wrong. Of all the congressional districts in the country, this one has to be one of, if not the most likely to turn from red to blue.

That is EXACTLY why he doesn't have it there.

Royal, do you have an opinion on Jim Anderson?

Doc, I'm not familiar with him. I live in the "big 1st", where we have about 5-6 Republicans that aren't substantially different from one another (though I am supporting one, in particular).

But being in the Wichita TV market, I see so many of the Hartman, Pompeo and now Goyle ads.

The Moran-Tiahrt race is the one that has me undecided. First I was for Moran, then wasn't sure about some of his voting history. After the recent KWCH forum where Tiahrt was obsessed with mentioning Moran in every single answer (and, IMO, being disingenuous in his characterization of Moran's voting record) I swung back to the Moran camp. Now I hear his former campaign manager had endorsed Tiahrt because he couldn't ever figure out what Moran believed and seems to go whichever way the wind was blowing.

                        Now I'm probably leaning Tiahrt.

This race is easiest. Moran is a wolf in sheep clothing. He is a rhino.

I am not following the election closely but for what it is worth I never liked Tiahrt. I actually voted for Dan Glickman when Tiahrt first ran for Congress. Of course, Glickman lost.

I don't know anything about Moran.

After this article appeared in the Hutch News today, I really have to question Moran. Saying it is a "trick" is about as week an attempt at damage control I've seen.
