  • Obama Nightmare

    1. Environmental Gulf Disaster and the Administration has no clue and different government agencies are struggling to come up with any plan how to deal with except have "hope" a miracle happens. This has the potential to make Katrina looks like illegal garbage dumping compared to the ramification of what is happening in the Gulf.

    2. Korea - N. Korea has been embolden by the Kindler and nicer Oboma administration. What has it gotten the U.S. - a bold N. Korean attack sinking a S. K. naval vessel that threatens to spiral out of control. You are about to see open naval conflicts and the DMZ to be hot.

    3. Israel/Iran - Oboma dumps on Israel and plays easy with Iran. What has it gotten? Nothing accept Syria opening making fun of Oboma and his impotence. You also have Syria funning Scuds into Lebanon.

    4. Afghanistan - it is clear the Obama administration has no plan.

    5. Budget Deficits that make the Bush Administration look fiscally conservative.

    6. An economy that about to go into another recession.

The world does not want a friend, they want leadership. Most leaders are not liked, but they are respected (and if your f-up, then you will fear them). Nobody in the world respects Obama and his administration not even the American people.

What is most funny - if this was Bush the media would be all over each of these failings. Will the media wake up?

Day 36 and Gov. Jindal still awaiting for a emergency permit from federal government to conduct emergency dredging operation to build a barrier.

Meanwhile Obama will be skipping Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. 'He'll be on vacation in Chicago'... Wonder why not in Louisiana?

      I get your frustration.

As time marches on I become further convinced that President Obama sees himself as an “exceptional” President of an “unexceptional” country. That's been Obama-administration message from the get-go. We saw all that with his reset-button/apology tour, and the old tropes that he was only a lad when America acted badly. The problem is that Obama's image is often at odds with America's self-interest. The civilian trials, loud promises to close Guantanamo, and trashing (if only rhetorically) of Bush's anti-terrorism protocols, to name but a few, apparently reflect well on Obama overseas, but they don't enhance our security. In fact in many ways they have made us and the world less safe.

After another two years, at least, of all this apologizing, revisionism, ahistoricism, and separation of Obama the Nobel Prize winner from Obama the U.S. president, no one will quite remember that it was the Chinese and Russians who butchered millions of their own and threatened the free world during the Cold War, or that from the Middle East we got international terrorism, crippling oil boycotts, and energy cartels, or that Reagan helped crash the Soviet Union, or that the Japanese started WWII at Pearl Harbor.

This keeps up, given our growing mega-deficits, mounting debt, unemployment, burgeoning trade deficits, and government takeovers, bowing to foreign dignitaries will soon be, not a sign of Obama's transnationalism, but an obsequious and accurate reflection of our genuine inferiority.

Pat Roberts on Obama at a closed door meeting with Republicans:

"The more he talked, the more he got upset,"

“He needs to take a valium before he comes in and talks to Republicans and just calm down, and don’t take anything so seriously. If you disagree with someone, it doesn’t mean you’re attacking their motives — and he takes it that way and tends then to lecture and then gets upset.”
This was from a meeting where:

The White House said that Obama made a plea for bipartisanship on some of the country’s most pressing issues — and he urged Republicans to stand up to their base and compromise with the Democratic Party.
Obama and McCain clashed over the border problems. McCain told Obama that his people should actually read the Arizona law.

Typical - as normal as it is annoying.

When confronted President Obama has a bad habit of saying he wants his critics to stop talking and of suggesting their objections are illegitimate. It is the equivalent of closing his eyes, sticking his fingers in his ears, and chanting I can’t hear you. In his world, Obama alone decides what is a serious point and what are mere "talking points" - one of the more grating aspects of his personality and his philosophy (It's worth noting that many points become talking points because they are such good points!). Overtime it has become clear that Obama deemed many talking points to be illegitimate simply because they were inconvenient to his argument.

Personally, I find an annoying condescension in Obama’s never-ending seminar. This is not news to certain people who have greater immunity to his charms; but Obama has a very thin skin when it comes to disagreement.

At campaign-style events, Obama has insisted that he doesn't want to "hear any talk" from the people who "created this mess" or some such. He once called for a new declaration of independence not just in our nation, but in our own lives - from ideology and small thinking, prejudice, and bigotry. Translation: Ideological objections to what I want to do are akin to bigotry and stupidity.

I think one of the great explanations for this is that he, his advisers, and many of his fans in the press cannot fully grasp or appreciate the fact that he is not as charming to everyone else as he is to them (or himself). Hence, they think that the more he talks, the more persuasive he will be. And Obama thinks if he can filibuster a “debate” – talk longer – then he somehow sounds more persuasive. This strategy is almost the rhetorical version of Keynesianism, the more you spend, the bigger the payoff.

The hidden cost of this strategy is that the more he talks, gives long winded meaningless answers, etc. the more pronounced or noticeable this tendency becomes for the average American. Eventually, it could come to define him. Presidents - all presidents - get caricatured eventually because certain traits become more identifiable over time. The more instances where Obama grabs all of the attention while acting like an arrogant college professor the more opportunities the White House creates where people can say, "Hey, I finally figured out what bugs me about this guy." Not long after that, it becomes a journalistic convention, a staple of late-night jokes and basis of SNL parodies.

SB – I could be wrong but I think there might have been bit of sarcasm contained in jdmee’s post. :)

BTW - in response I was going to write that it appears our dear President has seen fit to grace the pages of the Politics forum on Shockernet. It does seem that the modus operandi of the White House in response to any crisis is: (1) Blame others; and (2) have the President give a speech.

                            New Obama Irony:

                            1. Today His Majesty stated that the Federal Government has been directing BP's operations from Day 1.

Does this explain all the failure to actually accomplish something in 5 weeks? Do you mean talking about it won't stop the leak? Maybe His Holiness should put on a wetsuit and swim down there and talk to the oil gushing out of that well. No pre-conditions, just let "The One" command the oil to get back into the ground.

And the government sings a different tune on a different day.

                              Today's headline:

Government is nearly helpless in stopping oil flowing in the Gulf of Mexico, leaving it up to BP, administration says

And people on the ground have a different view:

But Louisiana Sen. David Vitter and other lawmakers and state officials have complained that not enough booms have been put up to shield Louisiana's shores, where 150 miles of coastline are already affected. He said he is very dissatisfied with the administration's response.

"The state and locals came up with a plan on emergency dredging barrier islands well over two weeks ago. For over two weeks, the corps and other federal agencies dragged their feet. 9:16:49 Then, they approved moving forward with 2 percent of that plan," he told CNN.
Remember, Obama told us that He is responsible for all of this.
