Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Xanax) became an unexpected YouTube star yesterday when he suggested — with a straight face — that the island of Guam might “tip over and capsize” because of a anticipated troop build-up.

Adm. Robert Willard, head of U.S. Pacific Command, gets points for not cracking up. “We don’t anticipate that,” he replied.

I think Rep. Johnson said he was trying to use a metaphor to explain his concerns about Guam's ecosystem. Regardless, it is a stupid metaphor and does sound hilarious. But I don't think Johnson was expressing a concern that Guam might literally tip over.
