  • White House reveals media control strategy

Comments from The Ministry of Truth:

In the January forum, she provided details about the lengths to which the Obama campaign went to control the media message.

She explained that the campaign favored live interviews so that Obama's words could not be edited -- "so that what the voters heard we determined, as opposed to some editor in a TV station."

She said Campaign Manager David Plouffe put out Web videos so the campaign could avoid talking to reporters and focus the media message.

"Whether it was a David Plouffe video or an Obama speech, a huge part of our press strategy was focused on making the media cover what Obama was actually saying as opposed to why the campaign was saying it," she said. "One of the reasons we did so many of the David Plouffe videos was not just for our supporters, but also because it was a way for us to get our message out without having to actually talk to reporters. ... We just put that out there and made them write what Plouffe had said as opposed to Plouffe doing an interview with a reporter. So it was very much we controlled it as opposed to the press controlled it."

So you find nothing troubling in the fact that the President of the United States, who ran a campaign promising to be up front and out in the open admits to manipulating the press and avoiding questions?

You, sir, are blinded by your leftness. I have no idea what you expect, but if and when it comes to fruition, I hope you are happy. The rest of us will pick up the pieces.

I'm sure George Orwell would find nothing strange about this practice.

So the Obama campaign manipulated the mainstream media during the election. They simply ignored the media, refused to respond to questions or interview requests, and made them report whatever items, sound bites, and hints of policy Obama wished to proffer. All campaigns try to do this but it worked in this case.

You know, there are dating-strategy books that give the following advice to women: If he's interested, ignore him, cancel dates randomly, and act indifferent — and he will come crawling. Would it work for the average woman? :noidea: Would it work with the media if the candidate were a conservative of normal provenance? Well, I know how I'd bet. :)

A multiple choice question: Obama's campaign strategy worked with our media because they are:

              (A) trained, objective reporters;
              (B) besotted intelligentsia, or
              (C) hacks afraid for their jobs in a crumbling industry, who will print whatever they have to so as not to be cut off .

The correct answer is (C), with partial credit for (B).

                  The Obama Motto:

When the truth hurts, blame Bush.

I guess those of us that are correct thinking should stop trying because you and all the lefties believe in zero personal responsibility so why should we expect you or you're criminals in office will ever take any?

                        You are too funny.

I see no point in discussing the merits of your allegation that the media was complicit in bringing about the invasion of Iraq. For the sake of this topic only, I will assume your argument could be made with compelling force. Because by making such an argument you will have to admit that there is, sometimes, a problem with the way Washington is able to manipulate the media

But so long as the problem creates a result you favor, the problem suddenly becomes inconsequential. Do you see the elementary flaw here?

I for one, would like to hear what you think, would have been the proper way to respond to the attack on this country on 9-11?

Quite simply, listen to your head of counter terrorism and go after those that attacked us! Dont use it as an excuse to dispose a dictator who not only had nothing to do with Al Qaeda but had been one of the countries who had little to no Al Qaeda activity. One could only wonder if we put the same fervor to Afghanistan and Bin Laden, we might not be in the mess were in today. Lives, money what a waste! I dont have to give you my best shot, its already slowly being played out.

What was the final total number of UN resolutions that Hussein (Saddam, not Barack) failed to comply with? 50-something?

The Leninist Party now in place at the White House did a historically masterful job of fooling the press and therefore, the American public.

kc, since when does that call for celebration? Unless you're an enemy and then I could see where a celebration is in order.
