  • Kids sing for healthcare reform on set of CNN

Some lines from the song . . .

"Bipartisan support was tried, so we wouldn't be denied. But Joe Wilson yelled, 'You Lie'."

"Obama says everyone needs health care now."

Look, I naturally recoil when I see children and politics tossed together – for a lot of reasons.

However, I thought I read or heard that the kids actually wrote the lyrics to the song themselves -- but I find that hard to believe (I can’t watch the video, and don’t particularly want to, but the Joe Wilson “shout out” strikes me as suspicious). I also believe they were featured at an Obama rally or something similar during the campaign. Or maybe they did a song about McCain and one about Obama at some event -- frankly, I just don’t remember.

At any rate, I believe the Ron Clark Academy is a private school not a public school. If the parents want to pay for this type of “education” – that is their right. I just don’t find myself getting all that worked up about it – maybe someone slipped something in my coffee this afternoon. That being said, it doesn’t make this any more nauseating in the abstract.

I posted this under the assumption that it was a private school, so I'm under no illusion that any constitutional lines were crossed.

        That said . . .

        - CNN continues to morph into OPAN (Obama Propaganda and Apologetics Network).

        - The cult of personality grows.

        - Teenagers say "capricious"?

        - There is still something creepy about a unified group of minors singing a song espousing a collectivist/Marxist federal program with lyrics that toss a grenade across the political aisle.

Wouldn't it be a better use of time to teach those kids to analyze, debate and discuss both sides of the issue instead of writing a song supporting one side of the argument?

Private schools are supposed to offer a better education. That school may be an exception to the rule if it's spitting out group-thinkers.

And another thought just occurred to me . . . did CNN fact-check the lyrics?

            Royal,

            You make valid points.

However, CNN thought it necessary to fact check a comedy skit as if they were trying to reinforce the public perception that the MSM is in the tank. So you were expecting – what - exactly? (I just caught your next post - I am going to guess....no....there was no fact checking of these children - that would be absurd)

I don’t like children doing this – at all. And I think I have been pretty clear about this issue – creepy doesn’t do it justice in my mind. Notwithstanding, I can’t get all bent out of shape if a private school does this sort of thing – if the parents, who presumably pay the tuition, tolerate this nonsense then I just have to shrug my shoulders and shake my head. I wouldn’t call it education – then again – I could say that about a lot schools, including elite universities.

I agree. For me it's a big face-palm as we see what kids are being taught and what we have to look forward to when they have the power to vote.

The fact-check remark was just something humorous that occurred to me. Like you said, they are more than willing to fact-check another network's comedy skit, but heaven forbid they do the same for something on their own set that is serious in nature.

To take the thought further, what if SNL did a skit where they fact-checked the lyrics? Won't happen though.
