Please, that was very tame. Have you ever watch the british political system? Tune into CSPAN sometime.

Plus it's the truth (find it hard for anybody to say it's not because there is no bill, but by the time it's voted on somebody will put some clause in there that will allow universal health care to ALL AMERICANS with the fine print of legal or illegal

Come on.. even as someone from the right, there's NO WAY you can defend his antics. The Republican party looks like a joke right now because of people like him.

It's a shame that the GOP, which has produced the greatest presidents in American history, is represented by people like Joe Wilson today, yelling "liar" at the President during a speech.

        From WSJ Blogs:

UPDATE 10:33 p.m.: Wilson apologizes in a statement: “This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the president’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the president’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the president for this lack of civility.”

I could care less about his antics. Frankly it's time the politicians quit playing politics and start serving this country instead of ripping it off.

This country should not be having a discussion on adding more government entitlement programs until it can actually pay for existing entitlement programs and spending.

It was wrong but I enjoyed it. I'm sure back in the day when our country was being founded there were a lot of things said and done that were much worse.

The way our current system works, you can lie all you want to and never have to worry about being called out to your face when you do it. I wish people wouldn't call other people liars but then again I wish people wouldn't lie.

I didn't watch the speech, but I wish a few from both sides of the aisle would have been as bold and uncivil (if necessary) when Bush was pushing the Patriot Act through Congress and telling us how necessary it was.

I agree he shouldn't have done it, we don't want to have the ugliness that the Britt's have.

If PBO would just start telling the truth about his health care proposal this stuff wouldn't happen.

PBO gives a good speach, I just wish it had real substance to it.

BTW, what does paying for a war have to do with healthcare? Oh yeah, that is the far lefts way of poking fun at something they didn't want, yet they voted for it!

If you lie, shouldn't you be called out for it? The way to prevent this from happening is to not lie, right? Why is the simple solution always cast aside?

It was funny watching the members from his own party look at him like he was an idiot. Some small time guy trying to get his 2 seconds of fame.

I value honesty regardless of the time or manner in which it comes. If you can't handle the truth get out of the sunshine.

I guess if making a fool of yourself and disrespecting the country is what you value...go for it.

I guess I'd rather have a Congressman who made a fool of himself once than a President who routinely lies.

In my judgment this not even a close call: Shouting at the President during a joint address to Congress is juvenile and uncivil.

Attempting to justify Wilson’s actions by asserting that "He spoke the truth!" or "If you can’t handle the truth get out of the sunshine", etc. -- I am sorry, but I don’t find that very persuasive.

Look, I'm not being dismissive; I understand where folks are coming from and I share much of the frustration. Moreover, I already think the story has been wildly overplayed, particularly from folks who 20 seconds ago were saying that years of offensive statements and actions by Van Jones were meaningless, but two syllables from Wilson are some massive indictment of the GOP. Not to mention the fact that I also seem to recall President Bush getting booed by Democrats during a speech to Congress – but I digress.

But look, as a strictly political matter, Wilson's outburst wasn't helpful. It doesn't help persuade people who aren't already sympatico with Wilson's point of view. Winning over moderates, independents, conservative Democrats et al is an important priority for Obama's opponents. Moreover, as a simple matter of right and wrong, or civility, it was uncalled for. Decorum at such events is simply a matter of good manners. Wrong on the merits plus wrong on the politics equals a bad idea by my math. Whether he was accurate when he shouted "You lie!" or not isn't the issue.

There are times to say the President isn't telling the truth — and he wasn't quite often last night — but that wasn't one of them.
