I must be missing something. Please enlighten me with proof of my extremist views in all of the political topics that I've engaged in.

That wasn't a personal "attack"... just an observation.

Fever wants to limit political speech, but claims he's not a liberal.

That makes him a Fascist... look it up.

One problem with separating politics from other off-topic discussion is that politics is brought up with respect to discussions about the economy, global warming, evolution, etc. When does the discussion get changed from off-topic to politics?

It was an attack. You're getting things mixed up a bit.

As others have mentioned, this is first and foremost a SPORTS forum. Limiting political talk on a SPORTS message board is in no way liberal or fascist. I can't believe you're that ignorant enough to drop those "bombs".

This off-topic forum has been totally bombarded by political pettiness. Shocker fans are arguing amongst themselves over stupid stuff. I'm all for discussing politics if that suits you. But it's come to a point to where everything that comes up in this forum is politically related. The best cure IMO would be to send those politically motivated to sites more associated with their interests. But, I could settle for a political forum as well. What we have now is garbage... and I think the people have spoken in the latest poll.

If you wanna really talk politics, go over to the glorious kansas.com, cnn.com, foxnews.com, whatever.

Just keep in mind the University at any time could step in an enforce copyright protection should some of the political views or discourse go too far. The site doesn't have any problem limiting "adult" content or topics such as the "shocker" hand sign. I don't know why something as volatile as politics has to be accommodated... This is a sports forum after all....

My real vote would be to ban politics discussions altogether. There are plenty of sites to discuss the topic.
Wow, this post is wrong on so many levels, unless you are under the impression that this is a university site.

This is a privately run site. It doesn't have to abide by any constitutional amendments. The university can't step in and do anything without permission from the site owner (ShockBand). ShockBand can allow or ban anything he chooses.

Do you only discuss Shocker sports with your fellow fans? Do you classify your friends based on commonality or only discuss certain things with certain friends? Of course not. This community shouldn't be any different, IMO.

What is so difficult or wrong with having a Sports Off-Topic and a Misc. Off-Topic.

We'd only be adding one topic heading. Those that don't want to sift through the non-sports topics wouldn't have to and those that want to talk about non-sports topics, including politics, know exactly where to go to get that fix.

Royal - For maybe the first time, I do disagree with your points. The one thing most have in common here is the love of Shocker sports, so, yes, I do come on here based on commonality. Aside from trolls, others that come on here from other college programs have other "commonalities" with their Shocker friends.

"Do you only discuss Shocker sports with your fellow fans?" Those that aren't fellow fans are at least fans of athletics. Otherwise, to carry on a discussion with them, might be as fun as talking to a wall.

"Do you classify your friends based on commonality?" Probably. The more I have in common with another person, the more likely we are to be better friends. Those I have nothing in common with, I may respect, but they're probably not friends.

"Only discuss certain things with certain friends?" Doing so would probably have been consider smarter if I had. And yes, there are friends I will talk about more private things that I don't discuss with just any friend.

"The university can't step in and do anything without permission from the site owner." Can they demand that you not use any of their copyrighted materials if they feel the site has become something they do not want to be associated with? Just a question.

"ShockBand can allow or ban anything he chooses." Yes he can, but I sure wouldn't want to have to apply the same rules to a political forum that I would in a sports forum. You might not have any posters left.

This will quickly become a pointless debate, what with the new Ministry of Truth's "Snitch Site" getting cranked up and dissenting Americans being labeled as "UnAmerican" by the political party in power at this time.
Surely the chilling affect of all this will kick in shortly and we'll all just go quietly into an Orwellian stupor.
For those who won't go quietly, Rahm Emmanuel's brother will be glad to help them end their own lives in the name of Social Justice.

That would be pretty easy if I didn't like anything but Shocker athletics. Unfortunately, I have some broader horizons and like to see and talk about a few other things.
