Just keep in mind the University at any time could step in an enforce copyright protection should some of the political views or discourse go too far. The site doesn't have any problem limiting "adult" content or topics such as the "shocker" hand sign. I don't know why something as volatile as politics has to be accommodated... This is a sports forum after all....

My real vote would be to ban politics discussions altogether. There are plenty of sites to discuss the topic.
 :good:

We're Shocker fans. This doesn't mean we have to agree politically. If politics is going to remain, it will eventually include the performance of the WSU academic administration and I don't think this is a good idea. Why not ban politics now?
Umm. I voted against but ultimately I don’t care either way. But you should explain your reasoning.
My reasoning is that lots of other sports message boards have (mostly) sports-related discussions (e.g. NFL, other schools' teams, MLB, NHL, NBA, WNBA, world cup, etc) in Off-Topic. Also, why should we encourage things which divide us rather than unite us as WSU fans?
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:

Because of a tragedy earlier in my life, there are certain sports that cause me mental angiush and thus, I simply don't click on those topics.

Why is that so difficult?

Then why don't we just have one big forum entitled "Discussion Board"?

Because folks want to click on the topics of their choice and skip those they aren't interested in.

Are you really that stupid?

Once again demonstrating that when Liberals can't control the message they want to silence the messenger.

The Free Market works for ideas as well, but I guess some of you look with envy at Iran and China.

Cry me a river. There is no big left-wing conspiracy to keep the conservatives on this board down. If that was the objective, it would have happened a long time ago.

How about "Truth in Advertising"? A "political forum" for those who want to discuss politics and an "Off-Topic forum" for everything (off-topic) else?

Actually, if there is going to be additional forum added then they should add:

Politics
Chiefs
Royals

There would be more discussion about Chiefs and Royals, but they are handicapped by being placed in off topic (which is really like "Misc").

I'd be afraid that if we added separate forums for the Chiefs and Royals the profanity filter might melt down from overuse.

As I was watching Major League on TV today on AMC (for the umpteenth time my wife tells me, says its my new Apollo 13) I was thinking how glad I am that the movie wasn't made recently, or the team featured might have been the Royals instead of the Indians. If I'm lucky, maybe 30 or 40 years from now the Royals will win it all and I can hold up a "now I can die in peace" sign.

Actually, I was requesting clarification regarding your statement: “If politics is going to remain, it will eventually include the performance of the WSU academic administration and I don't think this is a good idea.” What does or should the WSU academic administration have to do with this forum and specifically, as you seem to imply, regulating political thought on this forum? :noidea:

As for the rest, it has been my experience that most people on this board are able to separate politics and WSU sports. If they can’t or don’t I do feel sorry for them.

SB Shock does bring up a good point. The Off-topic forum is basically politics, Royals and Chiefs with the occasional query about where one can find the best pizza in Wichita. Accordingly, I have never found it to be a herculean task to discern which topics I am interested in and which ones I don’t care to read.

Again, I don’t see the point of all of this but I don’t care either way.

I'm definitely not a liberal and I don't want to shut anybody up. However, I click on SN because of sports. I'm a sports nut and like to read, and sometimes discuss, all things Shocker as well as other sports happenings. This doesn't mean I don't occasionally skim through the "Political Forum" topics, as I like to here from all positions of an issue. However, I'm always in the mood to talk sports, not so with politics.

I like a variation of 1979Shocker's idea best. Have a Sports Off-Topic and a Misc. Off-Topic. I believe more off-topic sports would be presented and discussed if separated from non-sports related items. I know I would look at it more as well as participate. Then, if I'm in the mood, I know where I can also click in for non-sports topics.

This board is first and foremost for Shocker Athletics. Secondly, anything sports, and lastly, an opportunity for its discussion participates to enjoy, or not, other topics of interest to them.

Then if that's the case, create a political forum, so us normal folks can skip all the garbage.
